Fulham 1-1 Wolves: Boxing Day Verdict Thread

Agreed but it makes it even more frustrating to lose or not win against those bottom 4 teams. There is no hiding that.

Anyone watching yesterdays first half would not have had us as the higher placed team. We stank for about 30 minutes, after a bright start.

There is definitely something in defending set peices. We concede too often from them or within 10 seconds of them.

A point was fair yesterday.
Points are points - personally, I would find it more frustrating to beat the lower teams but get humped by the better teams - we have shown we can play at a high level, but can also be inconsistent - teams have also paid us the compliment of setting up to stifle us - I’ll take that.

So looking forward to the next 19 games

Away
Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Everton,Bournemouth, Watford, Man City- We will do exceptionally well to win any of those. Taking a point will be an achievement against any of those sides away from home. Then we visit Huddersfield who we have an awful record against , Burnley and Southampton, who will both be looking for home points desperately. Now football is a funny game and we probably will get some decent results against some of these but we can have no real expeactations. I believe the first half of the season was easier for us with a number of the top sides coming to us. The returns will be harder. The good news is that we could play with more freedom away unless teams set up like Fulham. Many of the top sides wont do that.

So at home we have Arsenal, Man Utd, Leciester, Cardiff, Fulham, West Ham. Palace, Brighton and Newcastle. So looking at that least we start as favourites in at least 5 of those games so its fair to expect 4 wins there?

And I still think there will be bids for Neves. Interesting second half of an exciting season.

That is a fair enough point. On the poistives we are not whipping boys by any stretch. We are capable of giving anyone a really good game. I just want us to give everyone a good hard game.

Very quick flick through those fixtures had us getting 22 points to finish on 48.

Agreed-45 to 50 is my expectation now. Over 50 and its an excellent season. Under 45 and I am bit disappointed. Dont call me entitled .........

Always enjoy Fulham away . But yesterday was a long, long day. Paying for it today. On to another one on Saturday!

I'd absolutely agree with that, so that's two of us for Johnny to insult...

I wouldn't call you entitled or a bellend. I would say though that over the last half a dozen seasons or so 44 points averages 12th place and if that's disappointing I'd say your expectations were set too high

Interesting range of views from yesterday only a few points from me,

1) smaller pitch with a packed defense Traore was always going to struggle, wrong selection from Nuno and an appalling display by Adama. We were instantly better when Cav came on who should have started.
2) We knew we would be attacking more, Vinny should have been in from the start in place of Otto, last 10 minutes made little sense but yet it was again obvious we were more balanced going forward with him on. Imagine if we started with Vinny and Cav down that side, its ifs and buts of course but I suspect we would have created more chances.

Overall delighted to rescue a point but make no mistake we should have lost, its almost the reverse of some of our other games and only poor finishing from Fulham kept us in it. Forgetting results for a moment and concentrating on performances we are very much a one trick pony, against a side that attacks we are a real threat on the break but against a side that sits deeper we struggle to break them down. This isn't a new problem last season teams started sitting deeper and we did at times struggle in the same way, it needs to be looked at and a plan B against this type of opposition is needed.

Moutinho 2nd half was a pleasure to watch and was easily our MOTM.

Interesting about us struggling on a smaller pitch, as Molineux pitch is even smaller than Fulhams wonder if thats why we struggle to break down defensive teams but do well against the bigger more pro active teams....and yes I know I'm generalising a bit

MMM

At the start of the season the majority had us top ten. The average points was about 50 IIRC. So now we are half way through to manage less than a point a game for the rest of the season would be disappointing ( to give us 44 or less)

Would you prefer 'Bellend' instead?

Someone obviously didnt get a new keyboard for Christmas. Still using the troll 2000 special.:icon_biggrin:

Still loved it when Prem called you a sock puppet!

I didn't. I predicted around 12th, but without a flirtation with relegation. Anything above that exceeds my expectations.

Yep, the entitlement is still staggering.

Not bumping an old thread but I would argue that its nothing like entitlement. Its as expected. Almost 60% went top 10. Given who we had signed, who we had and how we had played the optimism was rightly high. It still is , but that doesnt mean we cant and wont whinge when things are not right.

And while I was there I looked at what I expected us to get of each team or rather would be happy with.

I was asked what I would say was ok for wolves to expect this season and I told the person about this thread. He wanted more depth so I went through the league. Would I be happy if we took the following points off the league? Yep.
Arsenal 1pt
Bournemouth 4pts
Brighton 3pts
Burnley 3pts
Cardiff 4 pts
Chelsea 1pt
Crystal Palace 3pts
Everton 3 pts
Fulham 3 pts
Huddersfield 4 pts
Leciester 3pts
Liverpool 1pt
Man City 1 pt
Man Utd 1pt

Newcastle 3 pts
Southampton 4 pts
Spurs 1 pt
Watford 4pts
West ham 4 pts

That would give us 51 points.

Those in green we have achieved or exceeded. Those in Yellow we could achieve. Those in red we cant now achieve. I cant say thats entitled.

Yes, we are 10th. Excellent.

I'm saying it's very entitled to expect to rock up to an away Premier League game and walk away with the points.

You never answered my question, we have won 6 of the 10 games against teams below us, you presumably expect us to be winning 8 or 9, yes?

Yep, the entitlement is still staggering.

I think it's grossly unfair and a real misrepresentation to correlate having high expectations with having a sense of entitlement. I don't think it is unreasonable to hope and expect us to get decent results against teams down the lower end of the table as we've proven we can be a damned good team when we fire on all cylinders. That does in no way equal feeling entitled.
