Liverpool 2-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Controversy time. I realise I'm setting myself up for a load of hate but I think Doc at CB has been fine, occasional fuck up but overall pretty good. There's definitely worse CBs in the league than him. His best set of performances since his first couple of years under Nuno at RWB.
There I've said it.
Obviously he'll now be absolute shite for the next 5 games (if selected)
No hate my friend but he sells himself horrifically for the first goal (there are then errors after that from Toti and Sa but that's where it starts).

He isn't a serious option.

Plus an utter fucking idiot getting himself booked for dissent after about 20 minutes today, congratulations, you now can't make a proper challenge for the rest of the game.

Thought RAN had an awful game today, wasn't anywhere near the level we needed him to be. Shame Rodrigo has a knock as I'd have subbed him early in the second half.

Guedes was absolutely abysmal, no runs behind Konate and VVD, no dropping deep and receiving the ball to run at anyone and (obviously) no physicality to pressure the back line. An absolute Rohan Ricketts of a performance.

Sarabia, I don't rate him but he did play a few nice balls and at least tried to be involved.

The away end atmosphere was none existent for most of the game. Much like Guedes.

He has been fine. I still think ultimately it’s putting a plaster on something that requires stitches. Very short term fix.

Fucked off going to Anfield year on year and feeling like we’ll be fucked over every time. The refereeing performance particularly in the first half was abysmal with Konate so lucky to not see a second yellow but i think the worst decision was the Ait-Nouri handball that he quite clearly guessed at which was just definitive proof that he wasn’t officiating the game as he should.

Sa, Sarabia, Guedes really poor and made it really hard for us. Semedo and Doc also very poor with their distribution.

Not having any Rayan slander, he continually pockets the best wide player in the league and still is a threat going the other way. Could have had a real impact had Gomes or Cunha slid him in twice in the second half. Worst thing he did was awful timing of his press for Salah’s disallowed goal which left Toti exposed.

Really like Munetsi, not a brilliant footballer but intelligent movement both when we have and don’t have the ball. Could be a real asset even if i think he’d be more suited to playing in a 3 man midfield. Bellegarde also looked like a much better player again particularly when in central areas.

In terms of the away end, it was appalling. Concourse singers out in full force again but don’t utter a word in the stands and pretty sure the lads in front of me were tourist Liverpool fans, they didn’t even clap our goal never mind celebrate and didn’t utter a word about anything relating to the game.

VP must rightly love the spirit Munetsi and JRB (yep, typed it) bring. But a real challenge to get them in the team. Presume his history sees a system with players like Guedes actually performing. So, that’s why he’s paid the big bucks…

Don't get me wrong, I'll be delighted if Djiga proves to be good and replaces him, I just think we judge Doc on his previous some times.
On the dissent, think he was a bit unlucky, didn't seem to be raging at the ref, also Agba got a yellow for what looked like a respectful question about why Konate didn't get a second yellow for an obvious card.

Talk of Agba's injury being a 'muscle' problem is a concern, or am I just being a worry wart?

Agba waved the imaginary yellow card apparently and that’s why he was booked

Very vague so could be anything. For all we know could’ve been cramp.

His block he made in first half (I think) was class as well. Proper defender

Pretty good technology nowadays for dealing with muscle injuries, ligament would be more of a worry.

I never saw him wave, just his hand up near his mouth. Though the close up could have been late to the party.

Other players get away with far worse. Don't mind yellows for dissent or waving imaginary yellows but it needs to be consistent, it isn't.
Same with a lot of things the lack of consistency. Kicking the ball away for example (looking at you konate)

Joke booking for Doc that was, he was rightly complaining about the 3 previous challenges by Liverpool players that were obvious bookings and should have been cards. Of course an over officious (well for us) cunt of a ref can't stand that someone dare to suggest that and books Doc and then VP.

Prick.

Yet no bookings for Salah and Robertson for complaining. Hooper's display was shocking

Busy day so all I can really add is that I'm proud of the way we played today. Really took the game to them, partic. second half and but for some sloppy finishing, we could have got at least a point. The good news is we can create chances and if we play like that, week in, week out, we'll be fine. You can already see the start of something... powerful, strong players who can actually play a bit. Not wet lettuces like Sarabia, Guedes etc. Liking the way we are starting to shape up and our recruitment team have proven they aren't bloody useless after all.

As for 12 man Liverpool... twas forever thus.
