Liverpool 2-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

I'm not concerned about Munetsi after 2 sub appearances. The good thing is his positional play is excellent - he makes such good, intelligent runs. I'd be more concerned if he wasn't affecting the forward play but he's definitely doing that.

Overall, I thought it was a very promising display against 12 men. The ref was a disgrace in that first half but fair play to us for our attitude in the 2nd half. Too often recently we've seen a Wolves side feel sorry for themselves and discipline goes out of the window but not today. Deserved something over 90 minutes.
It’s working!! 😉

Having watched it back then it has to be a second yellow for Konaté. Just clatters into Cunha, nowhere near getting the ball.

Second penalty didn't look right on first look at full speed, very disappointed in Jota for that, not his usual style.

Come on, it's very much his usual style, was at Wolves has been at Liverpool

I think, possibly, if Guedes would have stayed on instead of being replaced by Munetsi, we might have got more out of the game. Played well though, much more cohesive as a team. Bueno looks much more comfortable in the middle.
Thought Munetsi and Bellegarde were part of the reason we got so much joy second half, Guedes did very little (also Sarabia).
Overall thought we were decent, bit unlucky and couple of poor bits of play/crap reffing.
Toti doing Toti things (he was fine apart from the first goal). Imo it's a foul on Agba before the pen, not much of a push but enough to unbalance him meaning he didn't clear it.
People will say Munetsi should score his one on one and that's fair but it was a great save.
Also his other chance fro. The Doyle cross was great defending.
Cunhas goal was class and for much of the second half we had them under pressure, shame we got no points.

VP on Agbadou: He felt something at HT, he needs to tell me and be honest, then he cannot continue in the second half, it’s a muscular injury, but I don’t know

Rodrigo Gomes & Sam Johnstone:
Small problems
Johnstone seems to have a lot of injuries and problems for someone that barely plays!

I actually didn’t realise before watching that today how many dislikable players Liverpool have got 😂

Diaz, McAllister, VVD, Robertson - all absolute bellends. You play for one of the biggest & best football clubs in the world - you don’t need to use the ‘dark arts’ to win.

Atmosphere sounded very flat & have a feeling Slot might be in for a rough time next season. It’s ok at the moment cos they’re winning games & will likely win the league, but they’re not as easy on the eye that’s for sure.

Hooper can make himself feel better by saying we had the majority of the decisions in the second half, but the damage was already done by then. He had an absolute shocker. As far as we go, we just can’t expect to rock up to Anfield & play 11 players PLUS a referee and come away with anything. At least we gave it a go.

Cunha the stand out.
Sa, Semedo, Guedes, Sarabia, Toti all shocking.
Semedo shocking? I thought he played well.
In fact all the defence was decent (Toti's missed clearance apart). As much as RANs attacking play frustrates the shit out of me, Salah got very little out of him again.

Deffo a yellow.

Redknapp is consistently the most "fair" of the pundits with stuff like this.

Carragher shouldn't do Liverpool games, it's a joke.

But then I guess I shouldn't be so precious.

If he was a centre forward I'd critcise him for both, the first he takes too close to the keeper, the second he should be attacking in the near post.
That's fair, so far I'd say he is an asset, his physicality in midfield is good and he gets into a lot of good positions going forward, think he will get goals despite being a bit cack on the ball. If he'd cost half what he did, he'd be a useful acquisition, jury is out for me so far.

I suppose we'd know any commentators biases as they are always ex players, but Carragher is by far the worst. GNev is also bad, but because Utd have broadly been contextually bad throughout his time on Sky he mainly puts the boot in from a fans perspective.

Perhaps harsh to stick Semedo in with the others but he was so loose with possession in the first half & seemed to constantly play others under pressure when there were other options available.

I do like him, though & I hope we get him signed down to a new deal and keep him as captain.

Apparently Liverpool didn't have a single shot in the second half, which is the first time that has happened in 8 years.

Just a shame Hooper didn't let us play that way in the first half.

Sa made one save in the entire game and I can only think it was extremely routine as I can't recall it.

I’d say GNev is far more objective than Carragher, it’s just really patronising coverage from Sky. Yep Liverpool are the bigger team and will get talked about more but stop treating non super 6 teams like they’re a micro state nation playing England at Wembley.
Just seems like the attitude is “your on tv against Liverpool, so be happy you great beggars”

Good performance all in all, and Liverpool couldn't have felt hard done by had we drawn.

Defending and decision making on both goals was absolutely shocking.

Sarabia and Guedes can both just fuck off, absolutely shameful performances. Referee wasn't much better.

Vitor Pereira 🗣️

We must play the first half as we played the second half, this is what I want to see in my team - the personality, courage and identity - all what I saw in the second half.

"Wolves woke up at half time and played a game not afraid, to play, press and create problems. Even the best players in the world, if you press them they make mistakes. This what we need to do in the future, not in one half but in two halves. Take the risks, play with courage and in our way to play and then I don't care about the result.

"I don't care about the team on the other side, if it is Liverpool or Chelsea, I don't care, I just focus on my team."
On if Konate should have been sent off: "I am not the referee but yes for me. What I say now will not change anything but in my opinion the second yellow card should be shown."
