I’m sorely tempted to go full captain hindsight and say I wished we’d made significant changes to the starting XI if the energy levels were going to be so low. It now looks like we’ll have key players too drained to face an FA Cup game that I for one would really like us to win.Our bench was weak, but Silva rotated his squad and they finished the game with arguably a stronger 11 on the pitch then the one they started with. If our players are knackered, rotate a bit - make a couple of changes? - not really having that from Vitor, whilst I do understand we could have done with some more strength & depth.
Bar Yerson who's out long term, the only real player we were missing that is guaranteed a spot in our starting 11 was Agbadou.
However, frustrations notwithstanding, cut out two stupid errors and we’d have been in with a great chance of winning that game and justifying dragging out a performance from tired bodies. That leaves you with the main annoyance being we’ve paid good money for a defender not deemed good enough to add value in a match in a busy run of games against opposition not likely to offer 90 minutes of pressure. Still don’t get why more subs weren’t made earlier though, I’m having that down as a mistake at the time and on reflection.
