Doherty was our best player. Interesting!
He was a fucking disgrace

From their perspective, particularly Cunha’s, a career peak is fleeting and one lost season can irrevocably lessen future prospects.Yep, fair summary.
They're both talented and fickle.
Neither did I.For clarity, I’ll disclaim that I didn’t notice any particular half-assing from Cunha on Monday. Frustration, sure, but not lack of effort.
JSL needs to show a bit better movement to get better service. The one decent run he made in behind near the end of the Chelsea game (left side of the box) he was played in on goal immediately by Cunha (IIRC).I'm just as concerned with JSL as with Cunha. I think JSL is getting frustrated at the lack of supply. Not sure his body language was any better than Cunha's
He needs to battle more, he's too nice. He was pocketed on Monday by Chelsea's back up centre halves, he didn't lay a glove on them.JSL needs to show a bit better movement to get better service. Said this the other day, he needs to put more physically pressure on defenders, gives them too easy a ride, if that means a few yellow cards so be it.He needs to battle more, he's too nice. He was pocketed on Monday by Chelsea's back up centre halves, he didn't lay a glove on them.
His body language (which can be poor at times as we’ve seen) was no different to any other game. People like Keen who know fuck all about football anyway clearly have an agenda or been fed a line and to run with. From their perspective, particularly Cunha’s, a career peak is fleeting and one lost season can irrevocably lessen future prospects.
Tough one. When the club is in a state like this, everyone stands to lose.

Yeah, I don't know how you could watch that game and not see he wasn't fully committed. I don't think he broke out of a jog for the first half an hour. There are reasons why that may have been the case beyond not trying, but there's no way he just had a bad game as some have suggested. He just looked not at the races tbh. He was poor but when we had an opportunity to break he was quite reluctant to sprint or go at full pelt, or he literally just couldn’t which is what I think.
I think sometimes it only takes a few percentage points difference in effort for it to be apparent on the pitch, and it might not even be a conscious thing. The levels that these guys perform at magnify it imvhoThe uncertainty could be as much about changing his role tactically from GO to VP, no?
Far be it from me to give a player way too much slack, I suppose, but it’s bonkers to me that footballers apparently feel so free to just not give 100% (or are perceived as such, anyway).
Maybe it’s the sheer volume of other pro clubs out there, but if a player is really going on the pitch and not genuinely making an effort, they ought to be sacked. That goes doubly for the whole “on the beach” crap. I don’t give a fuck if we’re safe but mathematically out of Europe, be a fucking professional and take some pride in what you do for fuck’s fucking sake.
Sorry, I’m on a short fuse lately.
Good point, well made.I think sometimes it only takes a few percentage points difference in effort for it to be apparent on the pitch, and it might not even be a conscious thing. The levels that these guys perform at magnify it imvho
