Wolves 1-1 Everton: Verdict Thread

Nothing, I’m just tired.
Im not sure what you want people to say though? That JSL has played well, or that Hwang had an impact? Also (and i love you DW so sorry to bring you into this) but where is the sanctimonious shite when he bashes Doc on a nearly weekly basis?

Doc's been sound in the central back three since Agbadou was signed and Toti came back from injury, that's why the manager keeps picking him.
Was marking two players on the goal, because Semedo had been sold by Agbadou's bad pass/JSL's failure to win the ball from that bad pass, he did his best to close down on the goal but the intervention of Andre and 'double deflection?' was unfortunate. Otherwise had a faultless performance.
Weird.
As a club, a team or a player you are as good as your last match imo.

Or if you've watched someone be crap for well over a decade, they're probably crap.

Agreed. Not that we should all mindlessly flag wave and happy clap, but criticisms for in some cases minor mistakes or average performances seem very harsh.
I guess we are all guilty if it sometimes. Take a dislike to a player and it forever colours our opinions.

100%, our off the ball movement is terrible, I like that he busts a guy and just wants to score goals. But like Hwang, if all you're contributing is hard work (and bags of it) then the goals really need to be in the 8-10 a season space, and with a habit of being clutch moments.
I don't think he's in anyway a long term solution (especially at his age) but if he puts a few more in the net before the season ends, then the club will probably see the (silly) fee we paid as justified.

I dunno man, Doc actually plays poorly most of the time.

But it's not like this is a new soapbox for me. I've been fucking exhausted of some of the discourse around our own players for a while now.

Marshall may indeed be an awful footballer. Today is not the day to go at him for it, though, given he's scored a goal that saved a result.

I think that's as much to do with the scattershot recruitment as anything (not helped by the rotating management of the last few years). We've got a collection of players who it is very difficult to put into a cohesive whole, IMO.

On JSL specifically, it couldn't be more obvious that he's simply not a "target man", but that's the role he's being asked to play in this system. He can't do it, but that's not an outright condemnation of him as a player. Right hole, wrong peg, etc.

We could badly use a coach sticking around for 3 or 4 years. Continuity isn't sexy, but it makes a difference.

I dont actually think Doc has been all that bad this season tbh. Ok, so none of us want or expect to see him playing for wolves in the premier league in 2025 week in week out, but thats not really the point anyway. Hes a human being too, with a sister apparently.

I'll keep that in mind some week he doesn't cost us a goal.

No he doesn't.
What do you want me to say? That he didn't have a significant role in us not winning? Because he sure did to my eyes.. He's not good enough and we've known it for years.

That history of being not good enough for all but 2 seasons at the club makes him quite a tough one to defend. He doesn't get the same benefit of the doubt from me as I give to lads who have been here for <= 2 seasons altogether.

see i thought it was simple enough, players play well (see Andre tonight for example who was world class...again) and we say so, players don't play well and we say so too. Length of service or any other random mitigation we want to make up shouldnt really come into it. certainly not on a verdict thread anyway.

Okay.

I'm not changing, so...
