Wolves 0-3 Nottingham Forest: Verdict Thread

Just one thing.......

A lot of us here - myself included - were quite critical of both Lage and O ' Neil when both Managers were openly critical of our own players , in some cases mentioning the player as well . Throwing players under a bus is a no no for me when speaking to the media .
Speak to them individually and collectively at training sessions and deal with the matter there . Dropping a play to the bench for a period will do the talking for you .

On Monday evening , did Pereira not criticise Tommy Doyle quite openly - saying that he went ' missing ' ? Not sure if he was referring to the first goal or just the match in general .
An aside: is it a fair correlation that people who refer to him as Tommy Doyle are fans and ‘Doyle’ well, ‘less convinced’ to be polite? One of those oddities?

Like with Tommy Robinson....?
Indeed. Maybe Tommy is just one of those words that’s pleasing to say. Does trip of the tongue nicely. Not tempting enough for me to use it in place of Yaxley Lemon or whatever the prick is called though. Unfortunate for anyone, Doyle included, to have the association!

essentially said he didn't hold his position as he should and left Gomes on his own.
Also grumbled about Lima not stopping balls coming in

Vitor has a history of calling players out if they have messed up and can fall out with them.
He is one if those you need to have on your side but if you fail on the basics he will tell the world.

Which is fine when you're winning matches , but when a losing steak begins that's not going to wash .

What? I type Doyle, because i can't be arsed, in a quick msg, to type the whole name, same as i type Ran, or, Doc, or Cunha.
How does that make me less convincing, as a fan.?

Uhm, I meant less convinced about him as a player.

I don’t have an issue with him holding players accountable. But footballers live by different rules don’t they..

Sorry my bad, totally misread that Mel, sincere apologies.☹
No worries. I caught up on posts since I made my hypothesis and it turns out plenty of people who don’t rate him also use his full name, so consider it disproved. He just falls into that odd category of players people refer to by their full name a lot.

Yeah I don’t rate Thomas Glyn Doyle, he’s too lightweight and too easy to breeze past in the midfield.

It always so black and white on here.

I feel like I'm in the minority when I say I think Tommy Doyle is alright, there will be games where we can start him and bring him on and he will be effective and can play a killer pass or make a good action (Brighton, Man U) but there will be games where he struggles and is lightweight, particularly in a 2 - such as Forest.

He's a good squad player, with a good attitude who won't be on huge wages, didn't cost much and will improve over time, who also won't kick off and be a moody cunt if he isn't starting (Lemina, Sarabia). These players are essential to the make up of a good squad.

This is where I'm at with him pretty much. Not a starter in a 2 but decent back up for what we paid.

The Brighton and Man U examples are both clearly good play, but with acres of space for him to show he's got a good long range pass on him when given the time and space to do so. When he's not afforded that space which is the majority of the time, in the majority of games then he's ineffective. Agree on all your points re attitude and squad depth, but for me he's a cup/injury crisis player, not one to be used in a PL rotation by choice. If we go down I think he'll play a big part next season.

This is all fair but I think we'll have no choice but to use him as rotation. Obviously depends on if we get a like for like Lemina replacement and if Traore comes back anything like. (Big ask)

For me it boils down to normal club v Wolves.

Him being those things in the second paragraph is good for a normal club, but when it's Wolves where we don't have succession planning or genuine depth (considering Lenina is off) it means he's always likely to end up with way more minutes in games he's unsuited for. At that point, all of those points in paragraph two start to more and more irrelevant because he's actively hurting us.

I don't hate the player I hate the (Shi's) game.

Doyle will be fine against two man midfield who aren't going to dominate physically. But against a 3 and with big strong players in there he's always going to struggle.
