Wolves 0-3 Nottingham Forest: Verdict Thread

How about the Ait-Nouri penalty decision first half? Did we get away with one?

Wouldn't have been overturned.

However, his arm wasn't really in an unnatural position and I think they've only given two handball penalties this season, so in that context, probably not, as I'm sure there are similar incidents.

It’s sad how quickly his wolves career has unravelled. His first 12-18 months were brilliant. I can only point the blame at one man tbh, but I’m trying to move on!!
We aren't as close to it, but most on here, me included, would have made him captain. The tactics were also a contributor, but he couldn't handle that emotionally. Judah hypothesised that's a condition in Cunha's contract negotiation, I think it would have a similar affect

Lemina has checked out.

Id be negotiating a number with Ajax to back out of the obligation on Forbs.

He gives me Sheyi Ojo vibes FFS.

This squad reminds me of the 16/17 squad. Just crammed full of wank you'd never want in your starting XI.

He looks mentally shot to pieces sadly, with him being captain and side falling into free fall has damaged his confidence and he’s took things very personally. Suits everyone involved that he moves away asap.

Lemina has had a pretty turbulent 12 months really. He's had some really high points at Wolves, but towards the end of last season physically he was absolutely fucked and performances suffered, and the start of this he's had some real low points performance wise. And as mentioned above, being captain in a failing side must, and clearly did, weigh very heavily on him. And of course, in all of that, and much more importantly, he's had the death of his father to contend with.

If he needs a change of scenery, i can understand that, but it is a shame it doesn't look like we'll get to see him get back to what he showed in the early stages of his time with us.

On the positives to take

“I cannot say they didn't run or they didn't try. We tried everything to have a different result. But, with a short squad, with the problems that we faced during the week, it's very difficult to be more competitive than today.

“To play against a team like them, a strong team, physically strong, we felt this on the pitch. They’re very fast and we conceded the first goal, and after we conceded the second goal at the end of the first half, we tried everything.

“We had the chance to score the next goal at 1-1, and it would have been different. With this team [Forest], every time that we don't have the balance to stop the counter attack, they create problems. We tried to play our game, we tried to have this balance, but with the mistakes we committed, they scored.”

On impressing in the first half

“Before the second goal, we created a great chance to equalise the game. It’s a short squad, and this week we’ve got a lot of problems. We tried and I’m proud of my players, but it was not possible. We need at least two [new] players to balance the squad.

“They tried everything to take something from this game, but this is something that we are expecting. We cannot lose our balance in the moment that we lose ball, when we lose ball, if we are not balanced, they are strong in the moment, in the counter attack, very fast players. We prepared this in training, but in the end, a lot of players out in a short squad, and we tried our best.”

On the finer details in front of goal

“We created chances but were missing the details to score. We need to give the merit to the goalkeeper, because the goalkeeper of Nottingham today made some fantastic saves.

“Nottingham is a team that when they score, it’s a problem, because they will wait for the mistakes, and when he made a mistake, they scored. This is the way that they play, and they are a strong team with this style of play.”

On his progress after two weeks

“I'm very happy with my players. If we had everybody in the condition to play, it’s a different game. With a short squad and with the problems that we faced this week, we tried our best. The players worked a lot. They fought, they tried, sometimes with quality to create the chance to score, and we created, but in the end they scored three goals and we didn't score.”

Whilst I don't necessarily disagree, you could level this criticism at just about anyone in that period.
Sorry Alan, I like Mario too, but for a long time he’s been very poor. Significantly worse than alternatives in his own position, shockingly bad tonight for example. It’s a criticism particular to him when it comes to our senior players over the last 10 months.. He needs to go now, and we should improve by finding a decent option who we can then play ahead of Doyle. If we don’t, well, it’s a problem area and one we can’t afford.

But see when you say it like that it’s analysis and not slag. :)

I have a theory but it’s proper “Tongo had depression” territory. Suffice to say that I think Lemina has done enough to deserve a gracious exit from the fans, though I concede some of his recent, er, antics will have irrevocably damaged his relationship with some/many.

He's an emotional guy, we can all agree on that. Not his fault its the way he is. If things were a little different with his makeup I dare say he would have had a stella career playing in european competitions. He leaves with my thanks and best wishes.

Agree he deserves our thanks. I stuck around after the whistle to clap him off as I guess that’s the last time we’ll see him at Molineux. Not many left in the ground - pretty poor show from the fans TBH, wasn’t even that cold. Yes, I’m still annoyed that the weather didn’t help us out.

Saw some criticism towards the fans last night re; a particular song being sang about MGW’s mum…

Lots of “we’re better than that” comments etc

I wouldn’t have Cunha as captain. He doesn’t need the armband to ‘lead by example’ but giving him the armband could be really detrimental like lemina

I’m also not a fan of a striker/forward having the armband. Always prefer my captains to be an ideally a CB or CM. Although, being a captain is different to yesteryear i guess. Doesn’t help we don’t have any CB you can pin your hat on either, and CM being Andre or Gomes. Maybe Gomes? Not sure

Fair criticism if so. Walked right into the MGW stuff and offered little by way of support. Hardly anyone in the starting XI we have a song for by way of some mitigation? Overall just felt like a game it would have been great not to have had. A nice break ended by an appropriate warm up against Bristol would have been ideal.

The songs about his mum, partner and child sounded pretty cunty. Some fans need to grow up and move on.
Was watching on TV so didn’t quite hear the songs. You would’ve thought we would’ve learnt by now that Booing him doesn’t help us… maybe we should cheer him then he will do nothing against us!

Don't think I've ever seen a football stadium so empty at full time btw. There were people booing at full time in the South Bank as well. 3 games unbeaten and boo the first loss? We really do deserve everything that's coming to us sometimes.
I didn't hear the boo-ing, but everything about the game was FLAT last night.
No atmosphere pre-match, and the walk up to the ground had no electricity in the air.
A LOT of empty seats in the ground last night too. Led to a really poor atmosphere, which was killed off by an early MGW goal. They anounced an attendance of 29,900 and something. Utter bullshit.
Of course, alienating a fuck ton of your fan base will do that. As a result, there was no fabled 12th man getting behind the team and offering inspiration.

The line up surprised me somewhat. As mentioned Sa had little to do. RAN as one of the back 3 doesn't work.
Was impressed by Lima and moreso Rodrigo Gomes who is really positive - tries to look forwards all the time, willing to take chances to drive forwards. I hope he can become a really top player.
Joao Gomes is awesome. Covered the ground of 2 players for over 90 minutes last night. had no help from either player alongside him sadly.
JSL - it was such a "nearly" night for him last night.
Doyle - flip him and take the profit now. Bin him off to a top half champ side where he'll look above the rest, but will be shown up when they are promoted.
Lemina - woeful. Don't think a single one of his passes found a team mate.

First game for bloody ages - thanks, Mr Shi for pricing me out to the extent that last night set me back a fuck load of money that I really can't afford (Mini Langers' birthday treat - he had a great night despite the score). Agree that it felt a bit flat, and it was evident on the pitch what we're missing since Nuno left. I hated hearing the Forest fans chanting his name - and some of them have got a fucking nerve as I'm pretty sure a lot of them would have preferred to keep Cooper over Nuno.... Thought MGW was excellent - our fans should probably realise by now that booing him only spurs him on. He's matured a lot, it's the best way to combat the abuse. Some of our fans need to get over it.

Anyway, I didn't think we were too bad in the first half but were killed off by Forest being more clinical than us. We were massively understrength without Cunha and Andre, and that has to be the weakest backline we've ever put out in the Premier League. The second half was very uninspiring - Forest did a job on us and we never really looked like scoring against a solid, organised side. Sounds familiar, doesn't it. Thanks again, Mr Shi.

Lima and Rodrigo were positives though - the latter needs to toughen up a bit, but there's a player there. I'd like to see Lima get some more minutes - he should be starting at Brizzle.

As for negatives - we really do have a lot of shit in our squad. Bellegarde is rubbish, Hwang a waste of a shirt and the sub appearances from Sarabia and Lemina were depressing to watch from players who I know have ability. Lemina was so good last season, it's sad to see how far off it he was. We also shouldn't have to field the likes of Doherty and Bueno but right now, we actually need them as we're so light in numbers. So thanks yet again, Mr Shi.

Really did enjoy a trip to the Western and bumping into some fine Forum-ites (and an ex-forumite...!) and I'm pleased my son enjoyed himself, but as for the match experience, I'm afraid I can't see myself being too bothered if that's my only trip this season. Too expensive and not the experience it used to be. So, yeah - cheers, Mr Shi. You've really fucked this club up unnecessarily.

The Forest fans singing, "Nuno, Nuno, give us a wave", hurt and his response more so.
He should have become one of our longest serving Managers.
I agree totally but we need to move on from Nuno (hurts just to type it) and back Pereira to the hilt to get us out of the shit.
Personally I think we need at least one more CB (as well as Agbadou), a CM to help Gomes and Andre, a wide forward.
It would nice to get better squad options than Guedes, Hwang, Doyle, Bellegarde and Forbs. Doubt we'll get all that in January though.
