Wolves 0-3 Nottingham Forest: Verdict Thread

No defeat is a good one, especially where we are in the league...but tonight should have dispelled any myths that this squad doesn't needs help, particularly at the back. Sarabia and Lemina are here in name only, the former has been for 6 months
There`s talk of these two are off, if so, why play them?

Thought it was of one Santi's poorer games of recent times, mitigating factors obviously with the players he had around him.

One of those nights where it just wasn't going to run for us. People used to accuse us of being lucky under Nuno but we all knew it was his system and choice of players that made it work. So it goes with Forest. What beats me is that when they break, we still don't have the gumption to mark the man rather than the space. It's quite simple, watch the forward and when he stops his run, stop with him. Twice that cost us tonight as the ball was simply knocked back into the path of first, MGW and then Woods. Basic elementary defending.

Other than that, I thought they got lucky with two saves that hit their keeper. Credit to him for making himself look bigger but on another night we go into the interval level or even leading. Have to say, I think we got lucky with the Ait-Nouri handball. On another day against a big six team that gets given. This is Forest though so they don't get the call. We've all seen that script before when we were challenging near the top.

Overall, an entertaining game with the scoreline flattering Forest. Happy to see some of our young talent getting a run out, not so happy with some of the more experienced players who kept giving the ball away or slowing play down. Let's hope for some new recruits before this run of games against teams at the top.

I honestly can't believe the way opinions seem to have turned on Lemina so drastically, but hey ho.

We're a side in the midst of a managerial change going up against a pretty unified team being coached by one of the best managers in the Prem. Combine that with our missing pieces and it's tough for me to get too rankled.

Even recent Lemina is a better option than Cundle. Not many alternatives to Sarabia either when we've got so many injuries and suspensions.

I'll bet that just in the time they were on the pitch together, Gomes out worked Lemina comfortably. He was absolutely just going through the motions, it didn't matter to him

He's not very good, he's just not. Jinky was correct on another thread we have a lot of fill in players in our squad, but it lacks starters. Repeating myself again, but we don't currently have a starting quality centre half in any formation within the squad with the possible exception of Mosquera who is done for the season.

He was poor tonight. A number of times his control was poor and he misplaced simple passes. His body language was equally disappointing, waving arms in the air, and generally appeared like he wasn't happy.

This is it to many CH you’d play in a league cup tie or as cover. One was meant as a stop gap signing but is still here 2 years later.
It’s another big Red Cross in the box for Matty and his recruitment.

Our season was not going to be defined by tonite, and when I saw the team felt that we were preparing for the Bristol game tbh

Pleasantly surprised by the first half performance and had it not been for two worldys from the keeper and one cleared of the line it’s a different story

Only bit of quality they had was the first goal the other two were from hoofs up the pitch and our inability to defend those situations

If it’s not clear to Shi and Hobbs what we need by now we deserve to go down, cuz most of us know defensively we’re shyte.
That said I felt Bueno did well tonight in a makeshift back 3 with 2 wingbacks either side of him and fuckin bullied all night by Woods and the Awoymni

Surprising also how we faded after we made the subs in both passion and attacking quality, where they had better options from the bench

This transfer window is massive for us
Lemina, Sarabia, Bellegarde are surely on their bike after this, but if we can replace with a solid centre back pairing and a Lemina upgrade in Gerson we’ll be okay

Let forest have their day in the sun with the fat Greek chippy owner…..jammy bastards😁

Whilst I don't necessarily disagree, you could level this criticism at just about anyone in that period.
It’s sad how quickly his wolves career has unravelled. His first 12-18 months were brilliant. I can only point the blame at one man tbh, but I’m trying to move on!!

How about the Ait-Nouri penalty decision first half? Did we get away with one?

I thought Bueno was excellent. Wasn't at fault for any of the goals. I don't think they had a big chance they didn't score.

It felt like every ball that went up to Wood, or sometimes other Forest attackers, didn't come straight back. He must be the only Uruguayan footballer I've seen with no aggression!

Perhaps the only thing I agree with O'Neil on is that Bueno doesn't have the physicality for this league.

Maybe with Agbadou and Toti either side of him it might not be highlighted as much, because he does have some qualities.
