Southampton 1-2 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Gillet has been good for the most part but that first half was bordering on cheating.

The difference between his performance first and second halves was the difference in allowing us to play and not.

Officials should not have that power.
Appalling first half, made lots of odd decisions and the Lemina bookings were "soft".

What a win though, the sort of win we would never have had under Lage.

Wasn't impressed with the starting 11/formation but there is a lot of credit for changing the formation and referee on the 2nd half.

That red card looks more and more embarrassing for the ref as you look at it. If what Neves said is true then ref needs a week off and some extra training.
Yep Ruben confirming that's why he sent him off is just totally ridiculous.

Glad that the rest of our players ran 'passively' all game

It was funny watching it , he just couldn't stop going backwards into his own net , it was like as if the ball was pushing him !

Was funny - proper FIFA goal!

Was very Djimi Traoré vs Burnley.

He just can't, he just can't, he just can't control his feet.

The Bethlehem Brent specifically recalled him from Villa where he couldn't get a kick, despite only having to be better than Tyrone Mings. Nice one.

What a fantastic recovery.

I'm less and less worried about relegation every game.

Wouldnt have been the best/worst OG of the weekend if the Leicester lad had shown a bit more composure after taking the ball last his own keeper and put the open goal chance narrowly wide

Stuttering first half performance, temperamental ref, man down, but the lads saw it through and came out the winners. There's growing belief and confidence now and that'll carry us through scraps against tougher opposition.

It's great to see that when we concede we don't immediately give the game up as lost. Under Lage we'd have lost that game by 2 or 3 goals.

Lopetegui got the initial 11 wrong imo, but his substitutions were excellent (though I was surprised he brought on Costa and kept Sarabia on), turns out Costa was inspired, he did exactly what we needed, which was a focal point to play off.

Also, Dawson looks to be a really good signing. He was easily the better of the two CBs, Kilman played an awful backpass to Sa, it was 5 or 6 yards shy and let Sulemana through. Smart stop from Sa to cover for the mistake.

Double whammy from Kilman on that one. His poor pass that gave Southampton to counter chance.

Not the best clearance from Dawson for the goal but being generous it was a reaction to a ball thumped at him rather than a calculated attempt.

Sa was charging out out of goal and then retreated. If Sa kept going it was an easy clearance, Kilman in attempting not to put too much on it was left with egg on his face due to Sa changing his mind.
