Wolves 2-0 Aston Villa: Verdict Thread

Of the Toti one? Only during the match itself. Was a pen. Went through Toti, kicked his boot first before getting the ball.

It was clearly not given because the ref was trying to even it up at that point. I suspect he had word in his ear that they’d fucked it for Villa’s disallowed goal.

It’s on the extended highlights on the app.

Was offside, blocking is happening a lot more, it should be a foul for Obstruction (don't see that much these days). They do tend to give Offside though if the player in an Offside position does the blocking, and the player blocked was stopped from making a Challenge.

On Our Pen, it was a clear pen, he kicked the back of his foot, we have seen pens given for far less contact, Silva, Hwang etc.

Thought that was our best performancenof the season, Agbadoo, and Toti were beasts, Doherty played very well.

MOM for me was Bellegarde, where the fuck did that come from.
I like Guedes he has quality.

I said in the bar Cunha was way off the pace but he was man marked, and there was always 2 on him, that left space for Sarabia and Guedes, and when they get time to.play both can they have real quality, sonetimes the game here is too quick for them, but Villa gave them tine and Space, too busy watching Cunha.

RE: Guedes, have to say that I reckon Hwang would have buried one of his chances, but Guedes offers more in general play.

Great result for VP and the team with the players at hand.

Loved the scenes at the end between manager, players and fans. Looked like a real re-bonding...hopefully not a false dawn.

The back three hugging and then Sa coming over to join in was lovely too

What was the situation with the substitution that took ages? It originally looked like Sarabia was going off, then he was back on. Couldn't see exactly what was happening from our end but it took ages and seemed a shambles. It looked like we had taken 2 players off and only brought 1 on

Man with board fucked up with numbers to start the fun and games.

Ref re starting the game with us only having 10 men on the pitch was monumentally bad.

I’m not so sure about that.

If you watch Guedes first touch, it’s brilliant and takes him away from the defender, giving him the angle………Hwang would not have got himself into a shooting position in the first place - his touch is diabolical.

I think there was an issue with Ait-Nouri who was subbed initially instead of Sarabia, I think it was originally going to be Gomes for Sarabia. Guedes went off, but then you saw him getting ready to come back on again. It didn’t look like the bench or the officials were entirely sure who was coming on for who. The ref didn’t have a clue and tried to restart the game with Wolves with 10 and I assume it was the assistant on the touchline who told him to pause.

Ultimately, nobody was harmed and the delay meant Cunha could score in the last minute. Obviously pre-planned for the socials layer in the evening.

What a day. Brom lose, Ipswich lose.

We looked so good in the first half – organised, everybody seemed to know what they were doing, game plan. Second half, Villa rallied – I think we got away with one for their goal, but he did attempt to block Semedo, who would have been marking who crossed it. I’d be gutted if that was us tbh. On another day, we could have had a penalty – it looked to me like Toti’s ankle was clipped before the defender touched the ball…

Bellegarde was fantastic. I thought Guedes did well – looked better in that position and was unlucky not to score. It was nice to have someone running in behind and stretching the defence for a change rather than Larsen jogging backwards and forwards. He has been poor since Forest, and whether he has been carrying a knock or fatigue, he has offered nothing. Like a celeb playing in Soccer Aid. The Jury is still out for me on Larsen.

Was he in an offside position?
Did he stop Semedo from attempting the block?

It was offside
It should have been a pen, however they will use the clear and obvious, and it was only by slowing down the frames you saw.

I dont mind that if it the same accross every game, therein lies the trouble, ypu know bext tine if its Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City etc it is given
