Wolves 2-0 Aston Villa: Verdict Thread

Dunno about that, Gomes has been our most consistent player all season, made a silly mistake. Bellegarde has had one good game all season. I know where I'm putting my money if there's a bet on who has the most impact over the rest of the season.

That wasn’t exactly my point.

I was trying to say that dropping JB after todays display, sends out the wrong message.

Nothing wrong with having competition for places - it’s actually normal at other clubs.

Does anyone know if TWF is blocked at Molineux?
I was using the Guest WiFi in WV1 today and couldn't use TWF - it wouldn't load at all.
Once I turned off WiFi, it was fine and I could access the site again. Is this normal?

What a great evening. Man I’ve given Bellegarde some stick over recent months so time to give credit where it’s due. He really was immense, a superb performance. Guess that’s where he needs to be playing. Sarabia getting stuck right in too, and hitting some terrific dead balls. Feels like a rare thing to be able to celebrate a decisive goal that also happens to be a 100% win guarantee. We enjoyed that.

I don’t want to go too OTT on Bellegarde as a CM, but IMO it’s not a coincidence that as soon as he was shifted wide left his influence on things basically disappeared.

Oh, and while I’m at it given I’m often laying into Doyle, he did great when he came on too. Kept the energy levels up, just what we needed I think.

Yeah I thought he was ok, mopped up a couple of situations and had good energy. He got a bit of criticism on the match thread though.

Oh and remember that amazing bit of officiating when the referee restarted the game when we'd taken Guedes off but not replaced him.

It's terrifying how incompent they are.

(Also in that incident, what was the Villa coach getting involved for?!

Fair fucks for that performance. I didn't think that starting 11 had that performance in them and it's a massive 3 points with other results going our way.

Fair fucks also to Bellegarde and Doyle. Can't be easy having your manager go public on you not fitting into his system. A lot of players would just sulk off, but they both went out there tonight to prove they can play the role required, which shows they both have a bit of substance about their character

Oh, and we got lucky on their disallowed goal, but it was a clear penalty at the other end for us, and exactly the sort of thing I'd expect VAR to have given.
Nah, def Offside, blocked Semedo, not sure he needed ti

Villa’s record at Molineux since 2016:
L 0-1
L 0-2
L 1-2
W 1-0
L 2-1
L1-0
D1-1
L0-2

Not great for a side that arrogantly sees us as way beneath them.

The 1-0 was an absolute con too. Joke penalty in injury time

Not seen an angle yet where it looks anything other than a good tackle. Must be out there given the noise, but what I’ve seen looked like ball first.

Definitely got the ball first, follow through caught Bailey on top of the foot.

I’ve seen them given. Santi wins the ball but then IIRC catches the Villa guy on the ankle with his studs, kind of high I thought at the time.

As opposed to their defender who kicked Toti in the area first and then brushed the ball.
