Wolves 2-0 Aston Villa: Verdict Thread

What advantage did he gain? Before the header he’s not offside so irrelevant, after it he’s an irrelevance.
But then you're debating exactly when contact was made and if it's close enough to the pass to count as interfering.

Stephen Warnock winning the intelligence battle with Jamie Redknapp there!!

Probably the first time I have heard him make sense. Mentions Redknapp saying Semedo never looks at McGinn so would never get to him anyway but Professor Warnock pointing that's because Rogers is there and...distracting him. Therefore interfering with play, so that touch just confirms he is offside.

Re-watched most of the match again last night (cos I'm sad) and wanted to note that Bellegarde wasn't actually very good until he scored his goal. Then after that it was like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders and he was a completely different player. I'd say that's proof, if we needed it, that he's very much a confidence player. Fingers crossed he can take that confidence and kick on from here. My fear is with Joao back, we'll see him shunted back out to a wide role and that just doesn't suit him.

With João back and Sarabia/Guedes/Cunha fit he shouldn't be anywhere near starting in any position really.

He didn't play in a double pivot against Liverpool or Luton, he played as an 8/10.

I have serious doubts about how well he'd perform in that position long term but currently he's a better option than Doyle. Hopefully Munetsi can be the back up to João & André that we need.

Seen a lot of people saying he should keep his place ahead of Joao after his performance v Villa. Not for me. But if he becomes a genuine option in the middle and his level stays where it was the other night, that can only be a good thing for us. I don't want to see him in those wide areas!

I'd play the two at the weekend and give Andre a breather.
Yeah, makes sense. It needs to be Andre + one other imo (Joao of course) in the League as otherwise you risk having two midfielders ending up in front of the ballat times. Which has been a big issue in the last 18 months even at the best of times

I'd play them both in the cup game, and see how they look, and let them get avfeel for british footie, and thus give Andre and Doc a breather.
Want to see a back 3 of Toti, Agga and Djiggie, (to see if he is stardust)
I know, i know 🙄
