Southampton 1-2 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Tough one. Part of me wants to give him some leeway with the first as it bounces directly in front of him, but it's still a save I imagine Raya makes for example and there are still other issues with it from him. Today he looked like Bournemouth and Sheff Utd Ramsdale where he seems to get too easily beaten with stuff you want a keeper to stop at this level. People can point to his player of the season with Blades but particularly before Xmas he let in some dreadful goals for them.

Based on his performances this season you'd not want to swap him for Sa. That's pretty damning of Arsenals valuation for him.

First game of 2020/21 for Sheff U - he should save both of our goals really.

He's not very good.

Ramsdale back to his diving in stages goal keeping. Not the worst English goalkeeper in the PL, we have a worst one as do Newcastle in Pope who is beyond hopeless with his feet.
As for Southampton I never thought Derby record would be beaten or equalled, I think they’ll go very close.

VP confirms Johnstone was given the game off as his wife is having a baby. Traore and Lima left out as a selection decision

He's called out players a couple of times which is a bit unnecessary, but I suppose he is what he is.

He wants to be here and I think his football on the whole is decent. Definitely knows how to set a team up, and given I've spent a huge chunk of the decade to date watching Bruno Lage and Gary O'Neil teams, I'll take it.
I've just read that since his appointment Vitor has earned more points than than Chelsea, Manchester United and Spurs.

I quite like him, and he's done a terrific job from taking over from that fraud GON (I'll put my hand up and admit I thought GON would be OK given the 5 month period of 23/24 when we looked quite good but after the start to season 24/25 it was quite apparent he was a fish out of water). It would be nice for a change to have some stability in the manager i.e. lasting more than 15 months.

Safety seems all but assured but next season looks even more challenging with Cunha, Semedo and maybe RAN and even Gomes departing.

Given the club's (Shi and Hobbs) utter incompetence in managing the ins and outs of the squad i.e. every year making it weaker, I'm not overly confident but a manager/coach who knows what he is doing with the resources he has gives me just a glimmer of hope.

Really happy with the result and had another great day in Southampton. Think it's my favourite away day, hopefully we get them in the cup next year.

Vítor has made us far more compact and competent than I ever would've thought possible from this group of players. He's doing an excellent job and clearly loves it here, time for a bit more appreciation from the fans IMO.

It was very 'Wolvesy' of us to look comfortable at 2-0, waste 2 chances to finish the game and spend the last 15 minutes defending deep after we concede a preventable goal. 3 points are all that matter though and we're all but mathematically safe now.

As fans West Ham are in a similar position to us, paying through the nose for a sub optimal product and playing in a soulless stadium. That's where the PL is now since it became an entertainment product
West Ham STs are far cheaper than ours. Met a ST holder recently who buys a cheap one at the back but just goes and stands with his mates in a completely different part of the ground.

I recognise him from somewhere. Not sure I've seen the channel before either.

Don't tell Alan but he called him "athletic".
I mean, it is a remarkably stupid thing to say, as if being a good athlete sets anyone apart at this level. He did go with some actual compliments of skill so hey ho.

I’ve expounded on this more than enough that you should know the nuances of the thing.

I think it's okay because he also said he's good on the ball?
Something like that.
