Next Manager chat.

I'd be happy with either Sherwood or Lambert, Sherwood being my preferred of the two.

I'd rather we wait until we find someone we want for the job rather than appointing the best of a bad bunch.

I can't see any reason or advantage in appointing someone we know isn't up to the task only to have to sack them again in a few months time. Plus, the wrong appointment could easily see us flirting with relegation

I don't think Rob Edwards is a huge buffoon and would do him and the squad good to work together for a bit.

Oh, and I think getting in a quality centre-back would have a more positive impact than a new manager

Spot on. I'm currently trying to convince myself that the article is total bull$#@! and that we're not stupid enough to be focusing on such a shallow pool.

It's the Express and Star. Shouldn't take too much effort to convince yourself surely...

The E&S haven't got one right since McGhee by my reckoning (we won't count Colin Lee as we never even looked like giving it to anyone else at the time once he'd won a couple).

DJ - the infamous "IT'S BASSETT" headline
Hoddle - they were busy pushing Redknapp and Sir Bob
Mick - they were going fully with the Ince angle
Solbakken - they didn't even know who he was
Saunders - N/A because he was appointed before a paper could even be printed
Ken - they were right behind "fans' choice" Owen Coyle
Zenga - nowhere near

We must seriously clutching at straws if those are our main candidates.

Pearson is a bit of a nutter and falls out with people at the drop of a hat.
Sherwood is a complete charlatan of a manager.
Ince is an egomaniac who's failed miserably everywhere since MK Dons
Lambert has a decent record up to leaving Norwich but has failed at his most recent appointments although with some mitigating circumstances.

Not exactly the cream of the crop that's for sure. If we have decided we have to go British then I'd be looking for someone already in employment elsewhere rather than any of the failures above.

I won numerous league and cups with ECT..... Real life Championship manager loike..

Plus we need a new central defender... Kenny can make a comeback at 40.

I really hope that the e&s are wrong on this one, it just seems so strange and narrow minded to only look at British managers. Of that list, Lambert for me on the basis of what he did at Norwich but i would want assurances that he would not go to the playing style he did at Villa.

Whoever comes in though i want them to insist that they bringin their own coaching staff. We lack so much in basic understanding and positional awareness it's untrue. This isn't a new thing either so i'm putting it down to the coaching and organisation of players who could be doing much better.

I don't for one second believe we are huge club that managers will be falling over each other to have the opportunity to take charge of, having said that we are a club at this moment in time (current league position aside) with a great deal of potential and I imagine an exciting prospect to manage. We have been in the Premier League in the not too distant past and there is a chance that that will go in our favour.

What I'm trying to say is that I seriously doubt that we are in for some of the candidates being touted by the media. They are serously underwhelming, off the boil managers. I'm sure Fosun aren't that clued-up when it comes to managers so will be looking for help when drawing up a list of potential candidates and Kevin Thelwell will be a port of call for them, understandably so. I could be very wrong but I happen to think that they will call Mendes to see what his opinion is (even if it is one in his own interests) as his knowledge of European football (again, this is supposition) is wider than Thelwells and as such there is a better chance we will appoint somebody more in sync with our current model.

I don't understand any of this only British malarkey, it seems to me like you are going to enter Masterchef but you are only going to buy your ingredients from Iceland.
I do hope I'm wrong but there must be a world of exceptional talent out there and were going to settle for what will essentially be a British failure in whoever we pick :(

What about Dean Smith ?

British, experienced, played good football

Could he make a team of our individuals ?

Apparently the E&S are stating that Quirk's preference has had a second interview...

Lack of rumours regarding any non-British candidates are worrying though. Where's Guillem Balague when you need him?
