Wolves 0-0 Chelsea: Verdict Thread

I don't think we'd have stood a chance at all of getting Jones. Everyone knew the talent he was, an English one at that too
I just don't think that's true, nobody knew who he was at the time.

He'd played a whole 122 minutes of PL football the season before we sold Jota.

I doubt anybody knew who he was.

I don’t play any Football Manager type games but I’d heard of him well before he made his debut, a bit like Foden at City and Greenwood at United, though maybe not quite so widely known.

Liverpool did!! I'm not even sure 16 months ago we'd have even thought it was worth asking. Had been a big part of the U18s under Gerrard. And the season you quote minutes wise, he was a regular in the cups including scoring a fantastic winner against Everton!

Liverpool had two young right backs and were clearly happy to let Hoever go (can see why, though I think he's fine as a squad player even now for us). No way we were getting Jones in a deal like that. He's not even nearly gone out on loan at any point as far as I can tell he's been that highly regarded by them.

We did pay £12.5m for Hoever which isn't small potatoes and Hoever had also played in the cup and was equally highly rated.

If Michael Edwards had been on our side we'd have ended up with Jones.

But we didn't so we haven't.

Fair play to you, Jones, Greenwood and Foden were all 17 when they made their debuts. I'd never heard of any of them before they took the field and I didn't pay any attention to Jones competitive debut which was against us as KJH was the main story for them.

I'm probably an outlier here but I think Jones is overrated. He's decent footballer but absolutely stratosphere's from the likes of Foden. I'd even put Smith Rowe as a level above.

I thought Hoever was an initial 9mill with add ons taking it up to 13.5mill?

Could be years till we pay those add ons mind.

The roundhouse kick was bad enough but the stamp after? :ROFLMAO:

typical soft rules, you can't even tackle in football anymore

Semedo’s role in Kilman’s exponential growth is perhaps overlooked, methinks.

Nowt wrong with using silly words now and again, Tredders. They're fun!

To be clear, I wasn't using it in quite the same sarcastic vein I use things like "innit" or "ay".

I’d hope not, ‘methinks’ died with Shakespeare.
