The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

The only gripe I had with GT5 was that it was too easy to get a overly powered car by level 3 I had a 400bhp DB9 going against the likes of 60 bhp Toyota Yaris on the Autumn ring mini.

Forza is the better game at the moment. GT5 took an absurd amount of time to be released and showed no reason as to why.

I never really got into Forza, good game but never really got me hooked like GT for some reason.

I preferred forza horizon and forza 3 to forza 4

I also liked GT4 more than GT5

I'm a huge petrolhead, and really enjoy Forza. But both Forza and Gran Turismo almost seem a little sterile at times. Need For Speed Shift 2 handled appallingly, but the sensation of speed, and the little effects like rubber marbles forming on the circuit , added the brutality of the crashes made it feel more exciting at times. It also has better real world circuits than Forza.

Shame the handling was wonky. Race Pro is decent for realism, but the graphics and general presentation are sub PS2.

I'd love a decent PC for proper racing sims, but can't afford one at the moment.

Dunno if it's been posted but GTA V has refuelling in it, it'll make those heists a bit more difficult now, a brilliant addition to the game IMO.

I agree because it will make you need to plan your long chases out a little more better.

Also they have called the Audi rip off "the tailgater" I think it's a great name.

Currently playing through Blacklist at the minute, only ever played 1 Splinter Cell game beforehand and that was Conviction and didn't play much of that. Though with this I'm thoroughly enjoying it, a fantastic game backed up with a fantastic story (so far at least), my GoTY at the minute but GTA will end that (when I get to play it which will be next year due to being on PC!)

Taken from IGN

Rockstar Games has completed development of Grand Theft Auto V, and the open-world crime game is headed to manufacturing. "We are pleased to confirm that Grand Theft Auto V has officially gone gold," Rockstar says, "and we are now preparing the game for release on September 17th for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360."

Well the odds of that game not going Gold or Platinum is about the same odds of Man United being relegated.

What has that got to do with anything I put? I'm saying the game has now gone gold and is put into production.

With the latest leaks from playstation they could have simply delayed it again.

You both have misunderstood each other. Bandy is talking about the game going gold (ie ready for production), James is talking about going gold (as in sales).

This is Hereford Wolf at the United Nations. Goodbye.

I am deleting Dead Rising 2 from my hard drive. An absolute fraud of a game with the two errors I highlighted previously utterly ruining the whole thing.

What a tragic waste. I wouldn't score it higher than a 4 out of 10. They REALLY need to change this for the third instalment. It's a game breaker.

Yeah you nuke Syria, good job HW. Keep up the peace keeping.

I've always preferred the Project Gotham series to Gran Turismo. Probably because I had Metropolis Street Racer (the precursor to PG) on the Dreamcast and played the shit out of it at uni.

I had MSR too (still have it, somewhere) that, along with Shenmue 1 and 2 made the Dreamcast a brilliant purchase.

Soul Calibur too.

Smashing console, shame Sega got panicky and pulled the plug way before the end of its natural lifespan.

Never had Soul Calibur, did have Crazy Taxi though and I remember enjoying the Sonic game that came with it too. It just never really got off the ground the way it should have done as a system which is a shame. Really wish someone would make Shenmue 3 though :(
