Looks like Gareth Ainsworth is jumping from Shrewsbury to Gillingham. Not really a step down as Shrews are doomed to L2 anyway.

Seems Shrewsbury were in some kind of talks for a takeover but it isn't happening now. Not sure they're ever getting any kind of sizeable investment - with how sparse Shropshire is in terms of population and most people into football there will follow us or Villa - either just because we're the two nearest and biggest clubs, or they/their family are Black Country/Birmingham people who've moved out west for whatever reason - there isn't anything to tap into. Same reason Telford never get anywhere despite on the face of it being a big town with no Football League team.

I know a Shrewsbury fan who was fuming earlier, seems a few bits of bad news at once albeit probably linked. Looks a weird one on the face of it moving a team 19th in League 2 but no idea if Gillinghams finances are in a better place than Shrewsburys.

The Juric thing makes me think he was obviously not signed on or willing for the championship but came in just to have a go at keeping them up, regardless of the chances. Suspect he will end up back in Italy as his reputation hasn't really been dented by this.
