The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2022/23

When he has the tools in place he does a job of sorts. I’ve paid no attention to their squad since they went down to know if he has those tools. He’d be doing no worse than Howe prior to the window. That being said he’s getting older and has a limited shelf life wherever he goes. A couple of seasons of finishing 7th would be glorious.

I too like his no nonsense punditry but I think he is completely the wrong temperament for coaching/management.

Agbonlashit (I know he is a twat and was totally unprofessional but...) was just on the radio talking about when Keane was assistant to Lambert at Villa. He said Keane didn't get that the players at Villa weren't at the level of the ones he was used to at United, his methods were outdated and his attitude towards the players, how he spoke to them - rude, belittling was awful. They were all happy when he left. it doesn't surprise me at all

You can see from his punditry that he's no tactician either. Never any insights just lots of 'he should have done better there' - no shit. He's like a grumpy Andy Townsend but with a better script.

He has a proven track record of being bang average at best. Fantastic appointment for every wolves fan.

Apologies if I've mentioned this before (i can't remember if it was on here or just chatting to a mate, old age etc)

But Albion haven't finished lower than 6th in Championship since the 1999/00 season, that really is remarkable given their financial power during that period, they seemed to dislike Peace, but he made some very good (and at times lucky) decisions that helped with that.

There isn't another midlands team that can compete with that record, but lets hope it's broken this season, they deserve a sustained period of misery, particularly as they often looked at us fans when we were miserable and doing things like invading the pitch v Burnley or the "you've let us down again" moron with arrogance, and a "we'd never behave like that" superiority, yet they are now doing similar!

Long may it continue!

The thing is that Albion fans like to make a meal over their so-called lack of financial power, but the fact is that in that period starting in the 2000/01 season they've spent 13 seasons picking up Premier League money, and 8 in the Championship picking up maximum parachute money.

They've hardly been paupers in that time - instead they've had a massive advantage over the rest of the Championship. Don't get me wrong, they've not fallen into the traps that a lot of other clubs have (including ourselves), always bouncing back to the Premier League within a couple of seasons at most.

Matt Taylor sacked by Walsall

A fine effort of getting Walsall hurtling towards the bottom 2 and into Non-League as well. Lost v Scunthorpe last night for their 7th defeat in a row

There was talk earlier that Ken has been sacked by Orient (9 without a win now) but not confirmed as yet.

I used to watch out for Walsall results, but their fans and weird obsession with us spoilt that, now I'm quite happy for them to drop out the league.

Ken must be at the power obsessed stage of his tenure.

Played 4 centre back in a back four last night (and not even the types you can play full back, like proper centre backs).

I hope they don't drop out of the league. Thought they started the season ok? Always gonna bounce between league 1 and 2 I expect.
They really ought make better use of the loan system - always been surprised they have never taken many youth players from us tbh.

They spent a while being a bit of a wolves retirement home. Remember bazeley went there, and several others?

Just Colin Lee signing his old players really. Bazeley, Corica, Emblen, Robinson, Pollet and Osborn all had spells there under him. He inherited Tom Bennett and Don Goodman too.

Balls to them, a really strange fanbase.

Another set of fan realising the grass isn't greener either.

They hated their previous owner Bonsor. He was an arse mind but he kept the club in profit, had them in the Championship, few Wembley trips etc. Their fans now hate the new owner and he is taking them to the Conference.

Singing songs about a dad who got knifed to death, hating on a team thats never been in competition with them in their history. Nah I think they're a horrible bunch and are welcome to non league obscurity.

Their rugby teams are always a pain to play too, feck em!

Hear you on the rugby teams - our twins played them a few weeks ago and they cut the pitch down to less than a half as all their players were fat and unfit.

They're just always a dirty bunch of gits, some nut jobs parents too in my youngests age group.

Played them the other week and absolutely stuffed them which gave me great satisfaction.

We lost by one try, mainly as they used a fridge and washing machine to push through. Got them at ours soon - we play on almost the full pitch, looking forward to that.

Seems I'm alone on this one. That said, if the barometer is the fans sing nasty songs, well pretty much all fans do that tbh.

Nah. I used to think they were OK, even cheered them on at Fellows Park against Man U that time in the Cup, but all that gloating when we were down in the the L1 cesspit with them, almost as though we were some sort of rivals, changed my mind. Fuck 'em.

Hear them on the radio and they have a real chip on their shoulder about us, far worse than Albion or Villa do but unlike them, they have rarely been at our level and tbh I don't care too much about them at all but they really really hate us!
