The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2022/23

Or indeed Leeds. Actually older than that as I was in nappies when Revie was slinging out the brown envelopes

Villa had a Man Utd hate in the 90s as they never got to play any of us, Blues or Albion in the league for the entire decade and they couldn't give a toss about Coventry (who in turn, hate Villa).

United were of course nonplussed by this.

Sunderland hating Coventry (and they really do) is leftfield! All down to a season in the mid 70s when they were both fighting relegation, Cov just happened to get their kick off delayed on the final day and so were 15 minutes behind the Sunlun game. Once it was clear that a draw would do for them, they Austria-West Germany'd it.

Any Wolves fans under the age of 30 are unlikely to appreciate exactly why we hate Bolton.

I love the non geographical rivalries like Bolton. I never realised for years they disliked us when we cost them promotion in 1977 when we were already promoted. I always thought it was one sided from 1995.

I can imagine Derby v Boro getting lively.

Newcastle hate Villa is another.

Reading beat Preston 3-2 but then sack their manager and replace him with Paul Ince
And I sincerely hope he performs well enough to get the job permanently, and then fail in a manner that the story will be passed from generation to generation till the end of time !

never forget him managing fulham at molineux, and being frustrated at something (ref i think) and taking a kick at some water bottles. and he missed them. twice!

He isn't the abject failure that he's painted as.

Did an objectively good job with Wales and Blackburn. Fine at Fulham though it was weird how he left. Good first couple of years at Stoke, basically binned off all the Pulis rubbish without compromising results. City job was too big for him and he wasn't the new owners' appointment anyway. Had a brief to keep Southampton up and he did. Rubbish at QPR, granted. Football isn't that bad.

He's not brilliant, there are loads worse out there. He isn't in the same discussion as the likes of Bruce where it's genuinely inexplicable how he keeps getting jobs at any level.

Not being contrary but that could be a decent appointment for Bradford. Watch this space.
