The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2025/2026

Liam "poor man's Russell Martin" Manning surely done at Norwich. 6 defeats in a row, not won since August, only above Sheff Wed.
Finally gone, they lost again today (they have lost every single home game).

Our old friend Tony Banter Roberts is part of the team taking temporary charge.

Maybe TR will come back with RE...

So how long do we think Howe has? Doubt they'll get dragged down into a relegation scrap but they must seriously be underperforming in the minds of their owners.
Future Wolves manager?😫

He can blame it on the £60 million striker he wanted but never got

There will be an upturn in form once he goes out of Europe, his sides can't cope with the high energy, high octane stuff twice a week.

I always find this so arbitrary. If he drew against City and beat Chelsea but lost the rest would they sack him for being a point short?

See also giving a manager one game to decide his future. Er, you either think he's good enough or you don't, what does one win matter?

Norwich set to appoint Philippe Clement having held talks with John Dahl Tomasson and Gary O'Neil.

Swansea looking to former Liverpool coach Vitor Matos having seemingly missed out on Kim Hellberg who looks likely to go to Middlesbrough

Norwich held talks with O'Neil but 'couldn't reach an agreement'. Again, I wonder if GON is setting his sights and expectations too high

I’ve said a few times, I don’t think he’ll work again, we sacked him, he’s had a summer and half a season to get back into it, whether thats because we’re still paying him ( who knows with Jeff) until he gets another job, as you said he’s setting his expectations and demands are too high, or nobody actually rates him

Always thought he might wangle a St. George’s Park gig. The FA are desperate for any young English coach to pin their hopes on and he seems to have a reputation beyond his ability. Talking a good game seems to be their criteria so wouldn’t surprise me to see him get his feet under the table there.

Regardless of what happened this season under VP his achievement in turning a group of players that had become a rabble under under GO into mid table performers won’t be forgotten, especially as GO said they just weren’t good enough. Turns out it was GO that wasn’t good enough.

It's not the same scenario though. Last season it was a 'good enough' group with a sprinkling of PL quality, who needed direction, discipline and their potential realising a little more.

This group lacks anything like that foundation of quality, so your ceiling is already way too low to make a meaningful difference. Throw into that mix a manager without PL chops and us already being miles beind points-wise too.

Only semi-realistic hope is a couple of Agbadou*-level impact signings in January, combined with us not being mathematically totally adrift, and multiple other teams falling off a cliff.

Nothing's done and dusted...but if someone's hanging onto that, against all evidence and likelihood, then they're either the world's biggest optimist, delusional or just swimming against the tide to stand out and be different
