10 Best/Worst PL Wolves performances

Worst performances wise. Burnley away when we played Otasowie up top and Nuno criticised the ref was the first time I was worried he was losing the plot a bit.

Everton away under Mick similarly. Had one shot all game (a penalty) and showed no signs of trying to get anything from the game at all

That's the game I lost it with Mick. Others have it down as Swansea at home, some say he should have gone at the end of 2010/11 (I always think there's a lot of hindsight speaking there), but it was Everton for me.

Two very very poor teams at the time, we went 1-0 up and then just tried to defend the edge of our own box. Inevitably lost. Then he said afterwards that "that's the way we will play away from home so people had better get used to it".

No ta Michael.

Another Mick shocker was 0-4 away at Chelsea in 2009 with Surman and Halford as wing backs.

Jarvis playing off Doyle right? In that rubbish away kit.

Everton at home the next season was pretty bad actually. And Phil fucking Neville scored a worldy.

This team, man

-----------------Hennessey----------------

Stearman----Johnson----Berra------Ward----

Edwards------Henry-----Milijas-----Hunt---

-------------------O'Hara-----------------

-------------------Doyle-------------------

Jarvo came on for Milijas on 80 minutes and Fletcher for Edwards on 86 minutes

Sorry, I mean the Chelsea away game that we lost 4-0 with the wing backs!

But yeah, yuck.

The 3-2 at Spurs is my favourite. Not only did we play well and deservedly won against a top side, but we looked SO good as well. Everyone played well. A proper top 6 side. Those were the days.

The worst has to be 0-5 at Fulham. A team that didn't want to be there, didn't want to play for the club or the new head coach. An absolute embarrassment. I think I might have started the 'things that fuck you off' thread after that...?

Happy thread after Wigan?

Happy thread after Wigan?

Ah yes - that's the one. I just remember starting a thread after being really fucked off with Wolves around that time :ROFLMAO:

Tangent from the Vitor thread and I mentioned how crazy it was that we kept O'Neil after Everton away given how awful we were.

So what would be your top 10 in each bracket? My first draft:

Best

1) Wolves 3-1 Arsenal (2019, Nuno)
2) Wolves 3-2 Man City (2019, Nuno)
3) Tottenham 2-3 Wolves (2020, Nuno)
4) Chelsea 2-4 Wolves (2024, O'Neil)
5) Liverpool 0-1 Wolves (2010, McCarthy)
6) Man Utd 0-1 Wolves (2022, Lage)
7) Wolves 4-0 Blackpool (2011, McCarthy)
8) Wolves 1-0 Man Utd (2004, Jones)
9) Wolves 2-1 Tottenham (2023, O'Neil)
10) Man City 0-2 Wolves (2019, Nuno)

Worst

1) Brighton 6-0 Wolves (2023, Lopetegui)
2) Fulham 5-0 Wolves (2012, Connor)
3) Wolves 1-5 West Brom (2012, McCarthy)
4) Everton 4-0 Wolves (2024, O'Neil)
5) Wigan 2-0 Wolves (2010, McCarthy)
6) Wolves 0-4 Charlton (2003, Jones)
7) Wolves 0-4 Aston Villa (2004, Jones)
8) Huddersfield 1-0 Wolves (2019, Nuno)
9) Brentford 5-3 Wolves (2024, O'Neil)
10) Wolves 0-3 Brighton (2022, Lage)
The 3-1 v Arsenal was Connor's first ever game- lucky git, I had a 0-0 against Watford. The 3-2 v City is probably my favourite game

I'm still having that 6-0 at Brighton under Julen de Burgh as the worst. So inept all over the park.

I reckon Paddy is the worst footballer of anyone I personally know and yet I reckon he would have been better than Nunes that day.

A lot of the 03/04 performances could make the list 5-1 at Blackburn & 0-4 v Charlton.
Proper rabbit in the headlights stuff.
Then 0-4 v Villa and 1-4 v Southampton were just complete no shows.

Yes we were utter garbage in that match but we were on the beach after the previous week beating Palace which pretty much assured banishing any threat of relegation.

For me that 0-5 loss at Fulham was the worst - as per Langers comment.

All I can add is two half performances - one of the worst was the 1st half performance in THAT game at home to Blackburn in 2010/11. In a game that was so important the level of intensity and commitment was woeful. I was so angry at half-time.

And one of the best was the 2nd half against Leicester in 03/04 in coming from behind from 0-3 down to win 4-3.

I watched the OG Leicester 4-3 in full during lockdown. It's such a bad game of football from a technical level :D Endless passes just booted straight out of play.

If we're having portions of games then there's a place on the shitlist for Lage's "tactics" against Leeds in 2022 after we went down to 10 men. Long ball to Trincao and Podence, what could possibly go wrong?
