Wolves 2 - Watford 2 a full blooded contest verdict thread

From what I have heard the referee will be standing by his decision to send off Sako.

Please tell me you were looking for your bad jokes thread?

How the actual fuck can anyone justify that decision?!?!? The cheating prick of a ref deserves sacking if that decision isn't overturned.

Fuck off Troy

"All I can say is this - if their guy doesn't put his hands in face, he doesn't go down"

He didn't you fucking twatsplat.

Doesn't help that some articles say Sako pushed him in the chest. He literally did nothing, and his arms came up as a reaction to being pushed, not actually doing any pushing

Don't the referees have an appointed assessor? Surely if you were the assessor you would have a quiet word. Something along the lines of "Yes, at full speed I can understand your decision but after we've watched the replay it is clear that the Watford player has cheated both you and the Wolves player" They can't SURELY stand by that on all available video evidence can they?

Troy is much more of a 'kick shit out of a bloke on the floor with your mates backing you up' guy.

Don't think Deeney was near enough to the action to have any sort of opinion so not sure why any paper would start giving him credit for that - hopefully common sense prevails as Sako's hands were nowhere near Forestieri to cause the reaction given

Langers, surely you mean my GOOD joke thread.

Seriously though, I think the referee should admit he got it wrong. Mistakes happen, but I presume the referee will say that Sako did raise his hands. But the fact is that Sako did absolutely nothing wrong, and should win his appeal.

Deeney should be ashamed of himself to say that. I still can't understand why the assistant, if he saw the incident, didn't tell the referee exactly what happened. Steve Claridge said on the FLS "we sat here shaking our heads watching that"

We have a had a few refs in recent years that stick by their decision despite video evidence showing they got it wrong. Is there a serious threat to the ref if they admit to a mistake?

The referee should have admitted his mistake, and there would have been no punishment apart from maybe a week off. However if the referee stands by his decision and the commission finds the case in Wolves favour, then he may well be asked to explain his actions.

So he is potentially making a situation worse for himself.

TBH don't mind if he does make it worse for himself - from what's been said probably shouldn't be reffing at this level anyway

If Wolves win the appeal, as I think they will, the yes indeed he is.

If he sticks to his guns, then any bollocking / punishment he gets will be fully deserved.

What actions can be taken against the ref or is it just restricted to having a week or 2 off or being sent down a division?

It looks like from the referees position he didn't have a clear sight as to what happened, so surely he should have asked the assistant, who was about 10 yards what he saw. I thought that's what the assistant was there for.

He could be left off the list for a period of time, or dropped down to lower division. But he is a level one referee, and that cannot be taken away from him.

Didn't Attwell get demoted from the Premier League indefinitely a couple of years ago? Although he is back now.

This guy had no basic fitness at all and it can be proven that he just guessed on a big decision, no team should suffer him. Tell him to go away, lose three stone and prove that he can make rational judgements and not just fling cards around based on stuff he didn't see.
