Wolves 2-4 Bournemouth: Verdict Thread

Never heard the 'sacked in the morning' chant but did hear 'Gary Gary what's the score' but thought it was coming from the Bournemouth fans.
The Bournemouth fans started it, then Wolves fans joined in. Another thoroughly miserable afternoon.

I thought at one point I could hear Gary O’Neil's Barmy Army but think it was them singing Iraola's whatever army. It's my gammy ear and the Steve Bull acoustics I think!

I think Gary O’Neil's Barmy Army has well and truly been retired.

I’m still surprised nothing has been directed towards the Directors Box yet.

Which was met by several fans lower down in the SB turning around and calling those chanting it scum. Our fanbase is finished if we’re accepting that performance and backing a tactical dunce.
This is what blows my mind the most.

Our fan base has been gaslit so much they now think 3 wins in 23 games is somehow acceptable off the back of one of the worst tactical performances I’ve ever witnessed.

We’re done.

It's backed up by:

1) Done over by the club last January
2) VAR hates us
3) Fixture list was mean to us

Whilst truth in all it has helped create the narrative in their heads.

Let's not forget Lage got away with it as well. It's all very very odd.

We are very good at finding ways to lose games. We have been for a while. There is no evidence that this is going to change any time soon. I guess we could keep on doing the same thing for a few months longer which seems to be the club’s plan but it will just be more of the same and we will go down.

Today, it was individual mistakes…not the first time. But it wasn’t just mistakes today…we let an average side turn up and dominate us on and off the ball. They neutered our better players and we had no answer. We brought on Forbs, his pace the greatest asset, and never used it. We had Ait Nouri at left back, left side of a three at the back, right midfielder. Rodrigo Gomes isn’t a Premier League player, he might be…but I doubt it.

We have no identifiable style. Players look like they don’t know what they should be doing.

We have decent players, but we are not a good team.

GON leaving would be a start, but doesn’t address deep seated issues.

Just managed to watch the highlights back, fucking hell.
Goal 1: Toti doing a good Ethan Ebanks Lendell impression in league 1. Firstly allowing yourself to be in that position is awful secondly you’ve pressured him enough that a clear effort isn’t obvious so trust your keeper.
Goal 2: how much space in the last third do you want to afford the opposition plus Andre and Lemina missing 2 challenges also a lot of passing runners onto the next man, amateur stuff.
Goal 3: Jose Sa it’s ok very occasionally to clip the ball down the line long it’s far better than conceding a penalty. ( do like the reaction of the staff on the sideline after the VAR decision, head in hands and knowing they’re step closer to a P45)
Goal 4: all on Dawson and if ever there was a golden goal that officially wasn’t then that’s it.

This is it really, at no other point in our history would we accept this yet fans are just going with it. Look at the latest post from the musings from molineux account on twitter, doesn’t want to sack a manager who will likely keep us up??? On what basis are we likely to stay up? Just so fucking annoying that we’re wasting having the talent we have like Cunha and happy to finish 17th.

The club have done some decent propaganda in recent years to make people believe the crap they trot out regularly.
Put it this way those of us who see through it and speak out against it would’ve been disappeared or sent to re-education camps by now if it was communist state.

Question where does Matt Hobbs sit during the game is it in the directors box?

Today was the very definition of omnishambles! Utterly clueless and confirmed that last week really was a freak result.

JSL 8/10
Gomes 6/10
The rest 5 at best.

Whoever thought Rodrigo Gomes and Forbs could step up to the PL this season in even a small way must be glad we only drug test players.

We could rescue the season by acting now but we won’t and next year we’ll be playing Hull and Stoke. Fucking great work Messrs Hobbs and Shi.

They probably can do it in 2/3 years time on a regular basis.
Currently they can only do it on a sporadic basis.
I don’t blame them the PL is brutal mentally and takes time to adjust unless you’ve had similar mental pressure elsewhere ie JSL playing in La Liga on regular basis.
People defending the “looking after the future” policy are missing the fundamental fact that there’s a huge hole been created currently.
Put it this way if Cunha was out for the rest of the season we’d all go from possible relegation to certain relegation.
The squad is built on quicksand.

I didn't think Rodrigo was that bad tbh. At least he ran with the ball regularly and tried to beat his man and get in the box.

He was better than Bellegarde, one cross aside, put it that way.

To be fair that assessment still sounds like a player not ready for a weekly endeavour in the PL and one who needs bedding in, we simply don’t have that time.

The substituions were absolutely baffling. We ended up with five up front, one (or two) in the middle and four (or three) at the back. We still played it around very slowly at the back, tried to pass it through a forest of players. I can only remember one cross in the last twenty minutes, the one by Forbs where we only had one player, out of the four other forwards, in the box. The mismatch of tactics and formation gives a good indication of the quality of the coaching.

Strand Larsen's second goal came from a breakdown in Bournemouth's play. Bournemouth weren't set in position for his first. We have shown very little ability to walk through defences the way that for example, City and Arsenal, do. Yet we set up in a way that suggests that is what we're trying to do. We don't have the solid base that you need to play in such a way.

Bournemouth walked through and around us without trying to dribble past us, they simply passed and moved. On the other hand, our players regularly dribbled into a group of two or three Bournemouth players and handed back the ball. How often do City and Arsenal players go on mazy runs exciting the crowd? They don't because they are looking where to move the ball onto before they even receive it.

O'Neil says his job is to get the best out of the players in the squad. He seems to be doing the opposite at the moment. Perhaps he is getting the best out of players indivdually but he is far from getting the best out of them as a team.

It is really weird. I'd have sacked him at pretty much any point last season barring a spell of a about 4 games when I thought I might have had it wrong. But I could obviously accept and understand why I was in a minority at that point.

Towards the end of the season it became more difficult to accept, because we were really shit. Still, the main noise was trust in Gary, it's not his fault we've had injuries etc. I couldn't understand why people couldn't see that, yes, it's not his fault we've had injuries, but it is his fault that he hasn't reacted *at all* to them. I was still in a minority, and was starting to wonder if I was going mad.

And we get to now, and it's clear that anybody who wouldn't hand deliver his p45 is basically a fucking nut job who's opinion shouldn't be taken seriously on any subject, ever again.

His performance has been completely unacceptable, whatever timescale you choose to pick. Yet still, there are loads of people supporting him. Absolutely boggles my mind. They shouldn't even be allowed to use a kettle, they're not of sound mind.
