Wolves 2 -0 Wet Sham verdict thread

That was exactly what I hoped for and what we got.

That win means we're 5 points clear of Burnley in 11th. Solidifies us in the top 10 for a good while, after it was looking quite tight.

Really sorry for Jota - was right in line for his best chance & you could see him tighten up and not catch it cleanly. Just needs one to go in anyway it can to get him up and running goal wise. He played well otherwise.

Despite only being safe when the second went in West Ham looked like what they are - a side that will probably avoid relegation, but not by much.

Traore was absolutely fucking brilliant tonight.

The front three works so well and terrifies every defence, and then we finally get a chance to bring Cutrone into action and he gets a goal, and I am delighted for him.

Dendoncker was total class tonight. So was Jonny. Impossible to pick a poorer performer in the team. And I still pinch myself that JOAO MOUTINHO PLAYS FOR US.

Ace night. Happy days.

Pleased Cutrone scored.
Nice 3 points.
Consolidating 5th place.
10 top flight league games unbeaten.
Traore still an absolute bargain.
Biggest shock of the night was Utd beating Spurs.
That says it all.

Thought we played really well in possession - we could just pass the ball around all night. Impressed with Adama defensively - there was one accasion when Cresswell (I think) had the ball on the side of our penalty area and Adama moved in, I was dreading a rash tackle for a penalty, but instead of diving in impulsively he just allowed Cresswell to lose control for a goal kick.

A really enjoyable match which we dominated and played football as we know we can. Again, if only we were more clinical these games would be far more comfortable.

I thought Jota was a bit better than of late but he so needs that goal. Nuno's subs transformed the game. Neto looked busy and very good when he replaced Jota and Cutrone scored not long after his introduction.

I was really pleased for Cutrone. He has been desperate to score that goal and his reaction was great.

A nice, comfortable win and our 'makeshift' defence kept a clean sheet.

MOTM between Moutinho and Traore. I'll go for Joao, superb again and bags of class.

I heard this morning that this is our longest unbeaten run in the too flight since 1972?

Excellent stuff, on to Brighton

I've not seen that much of us this year, and I thought we were excellent. Well organised, calm, intelligent, energetic, hard-working and above all, creative. There's a real vervein the way we play that is great to watch.

I thought Jota was pretty good, albeit with not much coming off for him.
Adama I still find a little frustrating in the way he draws two or three defenders and often fails to release the ball having created that space for others. A minor quibble though - it's great that we have attacking combinations on both sides that frighten the life out of defences.

Just a shame it's all coming to an end on Sunday when I go along to Brighton. Blame Quirk for selling me the tickets.

so much was good about last night.
Patricio was brilliant. Again he is showing his quality.
Donck stood up to the mark after a below par performance that the weekend.
Saiss looked very good again.
Jonny had a very good game, such a shame he slipped when Raul put him through.
Doherty again was very good.
Traore was very very good. Take SLAs point about when he stops - for me the team lose a bit of momentum and advantage when he does this. I hugely expect Nuno and co will work on this with him. The development is phenomenal. Also, I want to give him credit for his tracking back and covering Doherty a couple of times.
Moutinho as we all know is brilliant. He's so good it overshadows what a lot of exceptional work Neves does - he was everywhere last night (Neves).
Raul and Jota did a phenomenal amount of work. It'll come for Jota - maybe I should stop predicting him to be 1st goalscorer.
Neto made a good cameo, and Cutrone took his goal really well. And Bennett is back.

West Ham are a poor team. I would love them to go down. Brady, pornodwarves, stadium issue. There's worse teams than them, so they'll survive. Haller has to be wondering WTF he signed up for.

As Langers says, we're good. We're really fucking good. We bossed last night and hardly got out of third gear. I said a few weeks ago we're almost a top 4 side. If we make good signings, I think we'll be banging on that door fucking hard.

Sad that I couldn't watch last night's game, have had internet issues since the weekend.

Nonetheless, very pleased with the result. West Ham is a direct competitor and smashing them is a very good indicator and puts us in an even better position!

From what I've read here, it was a very good match, so all the better!

Enjoyed the game yesterday, reminded me of last years home game against West Ham - always thought we would win.

Counter to some of the above, I thought Traore had one of his poorer games. Yes he beat lots of players and had a pretty good defender on toast, but that a given for him in most / all games. I thought some of his end ball had regressed a bit, 2 or 3 good crosses, but not much more.

Jonny MotM for me, he was exceptional defensively (as normal), but in attack too.

I thought Jota and Raul were both a bit selfish, and the movement and passing was not as sharp as normal - possibly tiredness. Could explain some of the end balls from Traore. Neto really impressed me, I’m very quickly changing my mind - he does have end product. Fantastic for Cutrone to get his goal, everyone in the ground seemed really happy for him. The Bully similarities are clear, hope he goes on to have half the success of Bully.

On a side note the traffic into Wolverhampton is getting shitter and shitter, particularly for a night game. Over an hour from Stafford to Wolverhampton is just crap.

I had a night off last night so managed to watch every minute of the game without people wanting beers.

Solid performance just a few comments.

Traore fucking release the ball sometimes he turns players creates lots of space, then gets crowded out by 4 or 5. He should release it earlier.
Jota is getting next to no luck, nothing is bouncing for him.
Needs to relax it will come.
Jiminez also needs to release it we look like we are playing Fifa sometimes.
I saw highlights of a few goals last season.the interplay and one touch stuff round the box was superb this season there seems less of it.
We really need to start turning dominant performance into dominant wins it was ridiculous that we were so.dominant yet the game was still on a knife edge on 85 minutes, our front 3 whilst absolutely.fantastic need to be less selfish

Traore explained why he holds on to the ball in his post-match interview. He said before he was bursting down the wing and getting ahead of the other strikers and having no option in the box to deliver to. He's trying to slow down a bit, take the defender on a second time, then if the movement of Raul and/or Jota is good enough he should have a clear option in the box. He's obvisouly still learning and it isn't always perfect, but it's clear he is taking on what Nuno and the team are telling him and getting better all the time.

Impressed last night, thought west ham were more dangerous than last season when they were just abject and seemed devoid of any attacking threat.

Thought we played well as a team, Jota is just that 5% off form that means things just don't come off for him, but he does so much right, it'll come, I feel hes desperate to get a goal, had a bit of bad luck with that offside and Ronaldo nicking one.

Moutinho is like watching a thing of beauty, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would watch such a player in a Wolves top in midfield.

Saiss is some player, to have him, Donk and Coady as our 3 centre halves all being good comfortable on the ball is something of a joy to witness.

All in all very positive, oh and special word to announcing Snodgrass was being subbed before he'd even worked out what was going on from that tackle, we all love a pantomime villain

The relationship between Doc and Adama is becoming very effective too. Adama pulling wide and drawing the full back leaves Doc so much time to run into the space that's left behind. It nearly came off a few times last night and was obviously successful last week against Braga.

I actually disagree with this. Traores first cross was very different from most of his crosses. He usually gets to the byline and floats one over, mainly to the back post.
Last night, his first run and cross resulted in a low cross delivered with pace. Different. Progress. I liked to see it.

It seems to be taking some attacking burden off Doc too. He's not having to run with the ball at defenders very often, which is helping keep things tight at the back.

You can see him now looking up early to see whose getting in the box. More often than not when he's been putting balls into there after scorching the opposition there are 4 defenders vs Raul on his own and it goes to the back stick.. He's steadily improving and the superlatives being thrown at him are justified at the moment.
