Wolves 2 -0 Wet Sham verdict thread

I actually disagree with this. Traores first cross was very different from most of his crosses. He usually gets to the byline and floats one over, mainly to the back post.
Last night, his first run and cross resulted in a low cross delivered with pace. Different. Progress. I liked to see it.

I agree he did have 2 or 3 better crosses than normal, but there did seem to be quite a bit of running into a dead end (not necessarily his fault, if no one was getting in the box).

Jota is the current dead end kid.

His runs and movement is still fine, it's just when he gets the ball it all goes wrong for him lately. A combination of trying too hard and not releasing the ball at the right time is making it tough for him.

Without being a negative Norman.
For me, when Traore takes on a few players, stops, takes on the same player and then crosses to the goalie its pointless and nothing comes of it.
We and he are far more dangerous we he gets past a player and gets to the byline and cuts the ball back, on the floor.
He did this for a recent Raul goal and for jota v sheff utd.
I mean, i heard people saying he was great last night but what highlights of any of those runs in the first half made MOTD?.
Very pleased for Cutrone, he never gets the benefit of a fresh running team from the start (might he get on a traore crossed ball? Who knows)
Watched Neves in the first half chase down 5 wet spam players right across the pitch...think he's definitely back to what we know and love.

I missed the game at the stadium last night as teacher's have an inability to keep anywhere close to the correct time on parents evening, so my view was from the tele.

On Jota, I don't think his confidence is down, if it were he wouldn't make the runs he did. I thought he like all our front 3 was guilty of trying to be too cute. The point I'd make though is I don't think he's fit. There were occasions last night and on Sunday when he had a yard on his man, but was caught when in the past he'd have been away. I'm sure he's playing through something

Traore explained why he holds on to the ball in his post-match interview. He said before he was bursting down the wing and getting ahead of the other strikers and having no option in the box to deliver to. He's trying to slow down a bit, take the defender on a second time, then if the movement of Raul and/or Jota is good enough he should have a clear option in the box. He's obvisouly still learning and it isn't always perfect, but it's clear he is taking on what Nuno and the team are telling him and getting better all the time.

There were at least 3 or 4 times he was in midfield running with players ahead of him and he still ran and ran and ran...

When he out wide with no one in the box I will accept that but not when he is running from deep with Jota and Raul running in to space because adama has 3 or 4 players around him as they are so scared

The difference now though is even when Traore doesn't have his best game and I thought he was guilty of over playing at times last night, he takes 2 and sometimes 3 players with him. That's crucial for space around the rest of the pitch. His very presence is an asset

Great game, great night, even taking into account Doosh’s stinging riposte. Not a bad performance anywhere and it was brilliant to see Cutrone get his goal, even Johnny was close to singing about pizza and pasta. Particular highlights were Snodgrass’ miss then being subbed while he was still on the deck and our lot chanting “Sing us your bubble song” when the Whammers has clearly had enough.

To nick the old Celtic chant.

"When the balls in the net and it aint Jiminez
........ Its Cutrone!!"

Minor point, Dendonckers goal appears to flick off Jotas knee - someone on twitter spotted it

Agree with this - he looks a yard slower than last season

Not if you watched the game. Jota isn't short of confidence

I personally feel he is experiencing a lot of frustration, which can lead to a lack of accuracy and a rashness in decision making or the slightest of hesitation at the vital moment.

He's probably over-thinking things, nothing a goal or two won't remedy.

I agree . . . he's still posing a serious threat to opposing teams, we're still winning (or not losing) and the whole team is on song (without our best defender).
