The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

I have almost certainly wasted 2 perks in that case.

When you go onto the skill menu to level up, you choose one of the 3 main things to level up then you have that massive sort of map almost with all the different paths on it, i was browsing a few things but didn't really see anyway of choosing a particular path to follow or perk to obtain.

they're not wasted. they're stored and you can take them anytime. I have around 12 to take!

I thought i may have unwittingly used them as i was perusing my different options, went back and had a look and still had two waiting for me, i stuck one in destructive magic and the other on one handed weapons. Looking to copy my Fable style of fighting.

My approach to the perks has been to use them early on across a range of different skill areas to try to make my character reasonably balanced. Once I've played a while and seen which areas seem to levelling up the best, those are the areas I'll use my perks on. That seems to be sneak, archery and enchantment for me.

I started the companions quests, when i was on my way to retrieve a part of a sword or something as a trial to join them i spotted two Mammoths idly grazing, i opened fire from a safe place behind a big rock, i was happily taking pot shots at the angry beast as it tried to find a way around the big rock but then i was blindsided by a fucking giant. Thankfully he didn't strike me cleanly and i managed to escape and hide under a little bridge.

the extra effect perk in enchantment is a potentially massive perk imo

A story I read about Skyrim that made me smile:-

"Last night I was in a big open-plan cave (I forget it's name) where a group of Forsworn live in half a dozen tents on a couple of levels. Normally they’re my enemies but for some reason this particular gang seemed quite friendly so I spoke to a few while I noseyed around and then sneaked across the camp and stole a book I was after.

While wandering back around I saw a Forsworn mining some ore and I thought “I’ll have some of that." I had misplaced my mining pick so tried pickpocketing him to see if I could take his. It went wrong and I had to (easily) kill him plus a couple more than ran up to help.

I quickly went into Hide mode and crouched behind a tree while 2 more Forsworn ran up and started looking around saying “Oh no what’s happened here” and “Wait till I find who’s done this” then, so funny, they saw a poor goat standing about 10 metres away and both raised their swords above their heads and chased it across the grass and killed it."

Poor old goat - wrong place, wrong time!!

I've gone back to retrieve the Dragonstone tablet and now in a room where I have to open a door with 3 symbols on it. Now I know it has to do with the Golden Claw but cant use the damn thing. Now previously in the cave I had this door and I found the clue on the walls around it, but not this one. I read a diary from the dude I killed to get the claw but as of yet I cant get the combination. Is it trial and error and people should have done it because its the first main mission. I dont want spoilers btw.

I've done this already.

Take out the claw and examine it fully.......

I did it but I couldnt put the claw at L1 or L2 during the quest. Was it when I tried to activate the ring and got closer at all ?

You have to go into the inventory. Select the claw and have a good look at it.

Once you've done that you should be able to work out the way the symbols on the 3 rings on the door should look...Rotate them until they are correctly lined up.

Woohoo, got Dirt 3 today! Can't wait to pimp out a Fiesta.

I'm not cool like the rest of you and won't be playing Skyrim.

I wouldn't class people who play Skyrim as cool. See the last 2 days worth of conversation as evidence.

Sent from my htc while watching conan the destroyer.

Okay - Hereford was right. Skyrim is awesome.

Did some of the quests from the college at Winterhold, which has taught me a few new magic spells. Almost came a cropper helping to excavate a cave when a big bastard bad guy came at me with an ace, but a few fireballs to the head soon sorted him out.

Then got back to the college and some nutcases tried to murder me. It was like Columbine in Skyrim. 'Hired thugs' apparently. Threw one of them over the side into the rather nippy moat below.

Went onto MW3 for a bit with the gang. Got angry. Lasted 2 games. Went back to Skyrim.

Ha ha! What got you angry at MW3? Quick-scopers by any chance?

I've just done that excavation quest last night too! Took me a while to figure out how to open that gate in the room with the 6 pillars. I didn't look closely enough at first. I haven't been attacked back at the college though, but I did save the game and quit once I'd received the next quest from the bloke in the library.

I've also learned 'Beast Mode' from the Companions and can now become a werewolf. Huzzah!
