The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2022/23

He said he had to get away, to ease his mind. I think all he needed was a little time...

I mean, he had to go. You can’t lose to a “relegation rival” in the fashion they did yesterday i.e. the opposition form to 10 men for 65 minutes etc. Horrendous run of form etc.

There was no way they were going to turn a corner under him, but it’s going to take a special effort from whoever comes in to replace him to keep them up.

If you say with their GD they need 37 points that's something like 5 wins and 7 draws from their last 16 games with a squad that looks like it belongs in the bottom 4 or 5. I think they'll struggle to attract anyone other than a lower league manager where being in the Championship next year is at worst s step sideways or an Allardyce out of work type for the short term

Gerrard
Gallardo
Marsch
Bielsa

Early favourites but probably just bookmakers being lazy

No way Bielsa takes it. Why would Gallardo? Stevie G is a possible.

None of those keep them up imho

The only one of those 4 that would be interested is Marsch and I don't know why Southampton would want him

What are his stats like?

Bielsa would no doubt demand what he did with Everton...so effectively takes over in June.

There are a few Southampton fans out there who want Lage.

Just had a look at the forums, they’re heavily against Gerrard, Lampard, Benitez, not a lot of love for Allardyce, Nuno mentioned a couple of times

Allardyce would be awful for them, he always needs signings if he has any chance of doing anything, they can't sign anyone.

They're in a similar boat to us when we sacked Mick at pretty much the identical stage of the season. On a terrible run, a fairly poor squad devoid of belief that you can't change, not cut adrift but it all seems fairly inevitable now. As such, as we found, I'm not sure who'd even want the job.

Obviously we may as well have stuck with Mick and assessed it come the end of the season, they had to get rid of Jones as it was toxic.
