Don’t think GON revelled in anything. He didn’t know what to do at the end of the game and it was only because the south bank asked for it that he did it.

I’ve got to say. After just watching MOTD we’ve definitely been on the right side of VAR there.

Semedo does step across and “initiate the contact”. You could argue he has a right to do that, but we give Anthony Gordon et al. pelters for doing that and winning fouls, but Semedo isn’t actually playing the ball or in control of it so does he have the right? Given the goal was given it 100% isn’t a clear and obvious error given there is actually some form of argument the other way. Personally as a defender I’ll go with a foul on Semedo, same as the Konate/Watkins incident.

To get both fouls not given for the second goal is also a bit generous but certainly not overturnable.

Yeah I thought Semedo stepped across him and the guy came into the back of him, he has the right to block him off surely, thought it was a foul. However every neutral says its not a foul so it must be my Wolves bias.
Also I don't think it was a foul by Dawson for our second, guy was backing in to him, thought the previous contact was a foul though but as I said yesterday, fuck em, I feel no embarrassment to us getting a couple of dodgy decisions.

Only 2 games between now and new year that I’d say are definitely winnable, Ipswich & Leicester. The rest are games you’d think we’d have a chance but would be an outside bet.
The way some super fans are talking about the Fulham & Bournemouth games you’d think we were playing the sides 20th & 19th.
Both are a step above us and are performing at levels we’d have hoped for.
Still think we’ll be sat on around 11-12 points come new year.
We’re totally reliant on 3 teams being plas poor until then to keep us alive.
Thankfully all 3 promoted clubs are poor nowhere near as bad as last season mind.

I think as we’re sat just 1 point from safety this will be the closest we come all season to getting out of the bottom 3.
All very 2022 with no WC break this time to press the reset button.

It was a foul, Semedo did what every defender does gets his body between the ball and the attacker, the attacker cleaned him out it's a Foul, I can see why the ref did not give it on field, his agle it looked ok. On that Note I thought the ref had a great game, the 2nd goal he let some physical challenges go, but he did that from Minute 1, and was very consistent, if he did not give a foul in Minute 1, he did not for the same tackle in Minute 90, it was refredmshing to watch a game where the ref never blew for every bit of contact.

The same people saying its not are the same saying last weeks was not.

At least be honest and say it should not have been given because then GON would be gone.

To me GON is not important, whats important was getting the win we needed that, yes it was turgid first half in particular, but a win is a win. I want Premier league next season and dont care who's managing as long as we stay up.

This squad is more than good enough to do that, we need a run of no losses, probably the next 5 or 6 we need to reach the Man Utd game with No Lossses, and at least 3 wins.

Pretty much sums up exactly where we’re, I’d still be pulling the plug this morning regardless of the result yesterday.
All they’re doing now is wasting time and last best opportunity to replace GON.
After this break it’s pretty full on until March so any new manager has to hit the ground running.

The fact that there’s such varied opinion on the decision shows it’s very subjective and the on field call should remain. As said many neutral pundits have called a very harsh call too.
If you think that’s a foul then you probably need to be chalking off our second goal too.

We got a bit of VAR luck, same as we did against Palace. Makes a pleasant change.

I want GON out. However that doesn't actually have anything to do with the fact that it was a 50/50 decision whether it was a foul or not, and it wasn't given on the field by the referee, and therefore should have been a case for VAR sitting on its hands because of the "clear and obvious" protocol. We got away with one, and my feelings about our manager have absolutely fuck all to do with that.

You personally think it’s a foul as do some others, the point is many others don’t think it’s a foul regardless of how good a pundit or forum poster they are. The point is it’s proving to be very subjective to a point VAR intervention was not needed.

It was a foul. There is quite clearly a kick into the back of Semedo's calf.
The ref didn't see it but once VAR reviewed he agreed with that assessment.
As regards the Dawson one, they go 50:50 but this season, ref's seem to have a tendency to play on as they know the attacker and defender are always going to battle each other.

Not to take this thread off course but thought I'd look up where the Prem league was this time last season. It offers a glimmer of hope.
Everton were bottom with just 3 pts from 11 games, Sheff Utd and Burnley were on 4 pts, Bournemouth and Luton on 6 pts. Bournemouth had just taken a 6-1 hiding from Man City. We had 12 points and were in 13th position after a much easier start to the season.

The best news is that we can score goals. So, any attempt by a new manager to shore our defence will undoubtably have us pick up more points. We do need to solve the Ait-Nouri problem though. A very talented player who simply does not fit in to any system if he isn't disciplined enough to know and fulfill his role.

We then need to solve the midfield problem of everyone knowing the system we are playing and where they need to be on the field when we attack. We expose ourselves far too much and that needs to stop if we are to have any chance of staying up. GON is pretty clueless about how to do this and the time has come to be pragmatic and stop the experiment of allowing greater creativity in our game. Th enext six games are vital to our chances of remaining in the Prem and we cannot play open and expansive football as we tried earlier in the season to disastrous effect.
