Loan Watch 2019-2020

Don’t think they’ve ever liked him. He’s only recently got permanently in the team and every time I watch them he’s been pretty much anonymous.

Totally bizarre though. That season under Lambert he was ridiculous, literally one of the best players I’ve seen at that level, much better than Cav. You could say he was standing out in a poor team, but he was still making opposition defenders look stupid and being pretty much the sole threat he should have had more attention. Since the injury though he’s been average. Don’t know how we can blame the injury for it though. He can still run and he still has quick feet, and his brain is still the same and that’s the biggest factor. You can’t blame it on “loss of confidence” for 3 seasons. It’s like he’s been space jammed and had his talent zapped

Not a criticism in any way, Sedgley. Like everyone else find this a really good thread. Just every time I see a Leeds fan they think they'd be overpaying at £1.5m never mind £15m
Wasn't taken as one :D

Costa's end product isn't helping him, three goals and a couple of assists in all that game time Bielsa's given him.

I was hoping that goal at Wembley last season would be the catalyst for him to get back to his best. Never happened, I don't think he started a league game again for us after Palace a few days later when he was awful. He was horrendous away at Shrewsbury in the cup.

I think we have to say now that he's never getting back to 2017 levels for whatever reason.

Ronan, Graham, Matheson, Ennis, Diallo, BAS and Watt starting tonight. Giles, Norris and John on the bench

The other problem with Costa is that when things aren't going well in an attacking sense he hasn't really got that dogged quality that the likes of a Jota have where you see him tracking back making tackles and being a general nuisance, he's weak and easy to knock off the ball and when the rest of the team is already in bad form it looks even worse.

£15m back in that season under Lambert would have been good business but he's not the same player now for whatever reason. We got a great deal out of this one.

In isolation last season he turned it on, United away, second half v Spurs (gilt edges miss aside) Spurs away, even gettin called up and coming on and scoring for Portugal each time I thought thats got to give him the confidence to kick on but no. Cardiff away he sadly ranks right up there in terms of all time spineless performances.

I wonder if it's a hunger issue rather than fitness now, just happy to.bob along and make good money.

on a run of form too isn't he?

Scored 3 in 5 now I think and getting plenty of minutes. I’m really pleased for him, I doubt he’ll ever be good enough for where we want to be but I hope he can make himself a good career in the championship at least.

Too early to draw a conclusion, but Sanderson didn't make the bench today. I'll be pissed off if he wastes the rest of the season not playing at that shite house of a club
Not on the bench again. Another Thelwell special?

From this midweek:

Niall Ennis played the full game for Doncaster and scored a great diving header, as shown above. He also nearly got on the end of a tap-in in the first half. Cameron John was subbed on with half an hour to go.

Connor Ronan and Jordan Graham were on opposing teams at Blackpool on Tuesday and were directly up against each other as Graham started as one of the central two in a midfield diamond.

Ronan had a shot well saved and picked up a yellow, for a foul on Graham. Blackpool went a goal up and Graham was subbed off at HT. Something must have worked because the Gills ended up winning 3-2, with Ronan subbed with 10 minutes to go. It's since been announced that Simon Grayson been sacked with David Dunn in temp charge.

Benny Ashley-Seal was handed his first start for Accrington at Shrewsbury, with Sadou Diallo in midfield behind him. BAS was subbed on 66 minutes but was praised by John Coleman, who said he played well as a target man. Diallo played the full game in their 2-0 win.

Luke Matheson played the full game at Sunderland and found his team three down by the break, with him caught napping for the first.

Elliot Watt played the full game of a 1-0 defeat at home to Cheltenham

Connor Johnson came on for the last few minutes of a home win over Rangers.

Unused subs: Norris, Giles, Samuels, Miranda.

Not in squad: Sanderson

A double for Cameron John today...

Sadly both in his own net

Cutrone dropped today...Fiorentina go on to win 5-1 away at Sampdoria and he didn't get off the bench.

Front two scored a brace apiece so he could be set for a bit of a spell reprising his Wolves role.

Tye last thing we want is him not triggering his minimum game clause which nobody knows what that is

The minimum game clause just means they pay for him early. If he plays no more games between now and June 2021 they still have to buy him for the £16m.

That's not what I thought, but good news

Cutrone is destined for a lower end serie A career at absolute best. He excels at nothing

From the weekend:

Cameron John and Niall Ennis - Doncaster, League One.

John was put back into the starting lineup for the trip to Gillingham and will probably want to forget this one, scoring two own goals that gave the game to the hosts. The first was a clumsy ricochet off a corner that he could have got his body behind to shield away from goal, and who knows what he was trying to do for the second - falling in a heap on the floor as the cross came at him. He also got booked to add to the bargain.

Ennis came on with 15 minutes to go but the damage was done. Jordan Graham also made a 10-minute appearance for the Gills and had a shot well stopped by the keeper.

Video nasty here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQ9DSfIm7pw

Sadou Diallo and Benny Ashley-Seal - Accrington Stanley, League One.

Both started at home to Lincoln but struggled to get going in the first half, with Diallo trying a shot from long range and also getting booked. The second half picked up, though, with BAS winning a penalty after some good work, but his team mate missed. Both were subbed as the half wore on, and Accrington went on to win the game 4-3 in their absence.

Connor Ronan - Blackpool, League one

Started at Bristol Rovers but was subbed at half time after Blackpool had a man sent off and he was the makeweight.

Elliot Watt - Carlisle United, League Two.

Another full game in a 0-0 draw at Crawley. Seemed to get forward more in the second half, having a number of shots on goal but to no avail.

On as sub: Leo Bonatini came on for the last 15 minutes amongst the shameful scenes involving Moussa Marega - thankfully, Marega ended up getting the winner. Roderick Miranda came on after 12 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Ave. Austin Samuels played the last 10 minutes in a 0-0 draw at Gateshead but didn’t have a shot on goal

Unused subs: Norris, Giles, Johnson, Cutrone, Herc.

Not in squad: Sanderson, Mir (suspended).

No game: Bennett, Matheson.
