I think there is a lot to be said for capitalising on players when they're "hot". No guarantee he can do it anywhere else or even follow it up next season.

I reckon he'd do well at a champ club. £5m - £8m would be realistic I think and certainly better than nothing.

He's got no outstanding attributes at all. He will probably play out his career in Serie B after a couple more unproductive loans.

Well he didn't land in Wolverhampton because we were bored and fancied signing him for the lolz. He had shown the attributes to break through at Milan and get a move to us and also with the Italy U23's.
The main reason it didn't work though was because he really didn't want to come here. Milan had to sell players and he was one, probably because they could get max value for him based on performances and potential. He then came here, had no friends or family with him, took little interest in learning the language and being part of the group outside of training. His attitude at not being picked he was ensuring he got his 1 way ticket out of town.
He just needs to cut ties with us and get on with his life. He made a big call binning his rent a gob agent before Christmas.

It's a moved that failed for us and we will lose money but I can see him doing a Rafa Mir and making his name (again) at a lesser team in the top flight in Italy.

Plenty of players break through at big clubs that aren't very good in the long run this is just another to add to that list. He'd made just over 60 senior appearances when we signed him so we were always taking a gamble on potential anyway. He's scored 19 league goals in his career and 13 were before we even signed him.

Thoughts on Mir? Will he be given an opportunity to come back and compete with Silva/Raul next season, or reckon we’ll cash in and spend the money elsewhere?

Tough decision. His value may never be higher, but we are a side that struggles to score goals and he’s done alright this season.

I suppose Wolves will speak to him and see where his head is at.

I don't really care either as he's never getting back in to Nuno's thoughts but any money we get for him is more for the club to spend on someone else so hopefully we can loan him out to someone and like Mir has a good season that puts some value back on any transfer fee we can get.
