A post-lockdown review
Ryan Bennett - Leicester City, Premier League. Post-lockdown appearances: 5
A strange one. Wasn’t included in a matchday squad until after lockdown, then made a string of appearances during a mixed run of results. Part of a defensive horror show at Bournemouth, including a comedy fall for the fourth and didn’t cover himself in glory by getting subbed at half time vs Spurs either. Could well be returning to the Champ, maybe with Norwich..
Dion Sanderson - Cardiff, The Championship. Post-lockdown appearances: 7
A mixed loan spell in the end for Dion. Earned rave reviews for his performances during their good run of form - got forward well and notched up two assists - but was then the victim of some puzzling management from Neil Harris that saw him miss a couple of key games in the run-in. Shame he didn’t get to play in the play-offs, would have been great experience for him at 20 years old.
Patrick Cutrone, Fiorentina, Serie A. Post-lockdownAppearances :12
Continued his regular sub appearances following lockdown with a flurry of four goals and an assist in six games, including a MOTM display vs Lecce. Showed some top quality finishing at times but blew hot and cold during his loan spell. Looks leaner these days though, has to be said.
Roderick Mir, Famalicao, Portuguese Primeira Liga. Post-lockdown appearances: 9
Rodders knows what we’re going through. After cementing his place in the side following lockdown, he helped his team to a run of just one defeat in ten games, albeit as part of leaky defence. His header against Maritimo on the last day wasn’t enough to win the game, so Famalicao narrowly missed out on Europa League qualification.
Leo Bonatini - Vitoria Guimaraes, Portuguese Primeira Liga. Post-lockdown appearances: 4
Started off in the team against Sporting Lisbon when games resumed but was then dropped to the bench then out of the squad altogether by the end of June.
Rafa Mir - SD Huesca, Spanish Segunda División. Post-lockdown appearances:11
Started like a house on fire after lockdown, hitting four goals in three games. Was then in and out the team as they battled for top spot in the Seguna División. His brace and assist in the penultimate game helped them to the title. Might seven goals in his last eleven games get him a transfer to La Liga next season?
Other news: Bouba Hanne has joined Gil Vicente in the Portuguese Primeira Liga on a permanent transfer, as well as Jordan Graham to Gillingham and Elliot Watt to Bradford, both of which may have been mentioned elsewhere.
