Bournemouth 0-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

I thought Bournemouth were playing on the edge in terms of physicality personally anyway, so not surprising when they went over the line

Also generally quite neutral on Iraola previously but actually he's a sour, moany, stroppy little Muppet fuck along the lines of Arteta when it's not going exactly his way

In today’s game it’s a red card, those saying it’s a terrible decision are viewing from a 90’s viewpoint.
Listening on talkSPORT whilst driving home yesterday they made out it was a scandalous decision and ruined the game.
Personally I dont think that should be a red, he doesn’t fly in, does try to win the ball, he's not looking to do him, RAN sells it and as often the case the still doing the rounds makes it look worse than it was.

None of which means it isn't though, although I don't think VAR should have got involved.

Personally I thought Iraola was pretty restrained, certainly on the clip of his presser on motd. Said as soon as he saw the replays and slowmo's being shown, it was gunna be a red. His only whinge seemed to be why VAR was getting involved after the ref gave a yellow. Lineker and Shearer also shared that sentiment.
Tbf I don't really care if it was harsh, Wolves have more than their fair share of dubious interventions by VAR.

I watched him through the whole match and he was pissing and moaning at practically every decision, as were his players, especially Semenyo who was trying the ref the game himself half the time.

Enthusiastically high fiving the red carded player as he was coming off was an Arteta-esque dick move as well

Fair enough, as I said, I only saw the clip on motd where he was pretty phlegmatic.

Bournemouth fans whining that it wasn't a red, and that Wolves are 'cheats' and play act the whole time. Astonishing lack of self awareness.

It's high time that tin-pot club got back to their natural level of League One tbh. Hopefully in a couple of seasons they'll be gone.

Don’t agree with this at all. Bournemouth occupy two contradictory spaces at the same time in that they represent all that is great in the English game, and all that is bad. We have a pyramid system that enables clubs to achieve beyond what might be viewed as their natural level but it does not happen often so should be celebrated. But that same system disadvantages those same clubs, and many others of a so called larger “natural size” due to the financial disparities that exist. Despite the success that Bournemouth have enjoyed climbing the pyramid over a number of years and then establishing themselves in the Premier League, that could all be undone in one season.

One relegation could undo all the good work that has gone into Bournemouth. They represent the good in that they have achieved against the odds, and the bad that they are so massively disadvantaged by the inequity that exists in the game. For the good of the English game, we need Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton continually punching above their weight because when that stops, the Premier League will become a closed shop.

Brighton and Brentford have both underpinned their on field success with tons of stuff that will protect a legacy off the field for decades to come.

Bournemouth just piss money away on players and carry on playing in a ground that wouldn't be in the top 6 best in League Two.

I think in this reasoned analysis, you're missing the crucial factor that Bournemouth are a bunch of cunts and have been for years
I’m sure I’m not alone in generally supporting an underdog but when that underdog is a team of diving, play-acting twats that take time wasting to the next level fuck’em!

It’s very much in the category of unlucky but meets all criteria needed for it to be a red.
It’s not the outrageous decision that it’s made out to be.

I've no issue with the likes of Bournemouth etc doing OK in the Premier league, they'll do whatever is necessary to stay there as all clubs do, some of it will be immoral.
On the other hand I'm getting loads of fun from seeing City, Utd and Spurs have varying degrees of a crap season.

I like having a decent mixture of teams in the PL, and the occasional Barnsley and Oldham are part of that, but I agree with TT yesterday that I'd prefer more Sheff Wed, Leeds, Blackburns and Sunderland and less of the afore-mentioned teams and second rate London clubs

No, as I said in the modern game I can see how it is a red, I just think the bar is too low. I also think the threshold for VAR getting involved is so inconsistent. It was brought in to eradicate howlers, that wasn't one

On first viewing of the replay it looked a red to me so I think VAR was correct to ask ref to look at it again. Even without the slight deflection off the ball he’d have made contact above the ankle.

All opinion I guess, for me that's re refereeing the game something they said they don't want to do. The ref had a clear view, gave a yellow, it's not a shocker, get on with the game. When Attwell has done similar to us, ironically with the same ref, people were less understanding

You’ll have to remind me of this incident?
