Bournemouth 0-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

I didn't see the game today and don't get me wrong I'm delighted we won. It feels a bit hollow though. We stay up, we sell our best player(s) and try to finish 17th again. It's better than being in the Championship, but just all a bit meh. A satellite football club.

I wouldn't write VP off potentially having us punching above our weight next season. Depends on what kind of support and summer window he gets

Any half decent coach would have us in the group on 30+ points if they started the season with us.

Probably would be closer to that group if GO was binned earlier.

Until money flows we are in this set up of hope for top 8 but a fuck up away from being in a relegation fight.

I think our recruitment has generally been let down massively by our “long term”managers post-Nuno tbh. Not to say they’ve got everything right, of course.

Must.. resist… the toldyousos…

Genuinely, I couldn’t be more thrilled for the guy. I was deeply concerned that O’Neil had irreparably shattered his confidence. He was going from “meh” to Stephen Hunt levels of inept (not that I ever would’ve admitted it at the time).

IMV that speaks well to Vitor’s man management, despite his reputation for being a dick.

Thing is nobody wanted him to be poor, we can only go on the evidence though and you could have counted his good performances on one hand prior to this recent run. Long may it continue, he was excellent today again.

I know that, but you know how the vitriol can get. Santi did pretty decent today, for example, and within 4 minutes of the match starting he’d already been called a clown.

Really feels like we forget a little bit that those are whole people down there.

We may finish 17th but the way we played today did not feel like 17th, and frankly that’s enough for me at the moment.
Absolutely delighted about the result, and fair play to VP for a setup that got the job done with some comfort against a good team. That said, I wouldn’t say the performance felt much more than, say, 15th. It was doing a job with willing players, which is way better than any realistic alternative and a different universe from the days long GON.

JSL was poor when he came on. If his ancestors had his lack of fight the abbots of east coast monasteries would have slept much easier.

Andre was, indeed, superb.

Sa had an excellant game, his poitioning was superb today. Semedo too, gteat captain for me, always talking, always instructing.
Bueno was excellant, toti too, and Ran was ran.
The midfield were excellant, summed up by Andre's applauding himself and just pipping JRB to man of the match.
Cunha is Cunha, sometimes he drives me nuts hanging on to the ball too long but wouldn't swap him.
I love munetsi, he's a rocket powered whirlewind, and will get his goals.
Strand needs some of vics special instruction, sluggish today put too easily knocked off the ball.
As for Vic, he's got this taped, and the players too.
Massive day.

Massive victory today. The teams below us all ship 4 and we keep another clean sheet against a very good, attacking side. Cunha was excellent again and took his goal well JRB had another good game too. The first game since the loss of Agba, was good to see the defence still worked well. Munetsi does give teams something to think about and yes it's good he's getting in these positions but how the hell did he miss that opportunity, just glad we didn't go on to regret it.

Brilliant job Don Vitor is doing. Another clean sheet, a good away win. Ipswich have 2 points from 7 league games this calendar year (including some batterings) and Leicester just keep losing under RVN. Effectively 6 points clear with a far superior team and manager, if we don't stay up from here then we need shooting (as long as it's not Munetsi doing the shooting!)

Not a verdict because I haven't watched it yet, but what a result. Daylight between us and the drop zone for the first time this season.

I said it early on that I thought 30 points would be enough this season. I stand by that, in fact it may not require that many, but to be sure, 8 more points will be seeing us survive. Just 8.

Huge weekend.

Vitor has 13 points from 10 games, O'Neil got 9 from 16. Vitor has 4 clean sheets in the PL, O'Neil managed 3 in virtually the entirety of 2024. Why the FUCK did we leave it so long?! We shouldn't be anywhere near that rubbish bottom three.

Fulham, Everton, Southampton, West Ham. That's a chance to put it well safe before we're tucking into our Easter eggs.
