Not 100% sure I agree about the clinical part. He most certainly missed tons of 1 v 1's in the early part of his career. I distinctly remember the Div 4 game v Hartlepool when we won but he missed at least four 1v1's. I remember saying that if this guy can start taking his opportunities, we have something on our hands. As we know, 50 goals per season for two seasons running then showed he became far more clinical.
He became even more clinical as we progressed up the leagues as well and didn't miss a lot after that. I do agree that he didn't give a shit if he missed and as a striker you need that trait. Understand what you are saying but I think he was a little more clinical than you may be giving him credit for.
PS. JR... now he was clinical. Don't think I ever saw him miss a 1v1.
