Wolves 3-1 Burton - Verdict Thread

The kid did presentation night for our football club in June, he's about 5ft 5 and 8 stone, he's also an Albion fan. He didn't mean to foul Neves either, he was just too quick for him, so he got a yellow by accident rather than design.

He should've been sent off.

Definitely left his foot in. It didn't really hurt Neves but it was a poor challenge. Nothing we're not used to seeing in most games in all honesty, it's just seriously odd for a manager to come out and say he told someone to get booked.

Pretty much a perfect day yesterday. So much fun, a comfortable victory, Fulham and Villa dropping points, Some excellent beers and a good laugh with plenty of forum-ites.

Neves was unreal yet again and I'm delighted that Afobe played well. Not going to criticise Ruddy too much as there were so many bodies in front of him. But some people seem to be getting a bit obsessed with wanting him dropped for some odd reason.

That Neves pass for Costa - swoon! Wish Helder could have hit it first time.

We didn't miss Jota, the result was never in doubt and although we've not exactly been tested this week, 6 points and 6 goals were just what we needed. 3 more wins and we'll be there.

Only seen highlights but are we going a little bit more direct while still playing some lovely football? I still think Leo suits the style we have used to good effect for most of the season but wondering if Nuno has tweaked the style a little to maximise Afobes talents

Wanna echo Langers post to say that apart from the weather, yesterday was absolutely brilliant. The game was good, saw quality goals in front of us at the NB end and met some Forumites for great beers and good laughs.

Thanks to Penk for his incredible hospitality once again, can't thank him enough, the guy really is a legend. Thanks to all you Forumites for making our Portuguese friends feel so welcome, they were blown away by the reception and friendliness and they loved it, Joel has been buzzing about it on Whatsapp today and is looking forward to coming back.

Our flight back to Dublin this morning was delayed by 3.5hrs, but it was OK as Stephen Ward and Michael Kightley and one of the Burton players were on the same flight so we chatted to them in the departure lounge about Wolves performance and the Ireland squad, Wardy is out with a knee issue. They are both really sound and down to earth and we wished them both well and they appreciated it.

Oh, and I won a few quid on West Brom and Stoke losing too, so with Villa losing and Fulham drawing it was fooking brilliant!

I had Wolves -1 in a fourfould acca which won me £93. Been a good week for betting on top of Cheltenham.

On the angle looking at that from the goal side of it,it looks like neves has put some spin on it,it seems to track dead straight until it bounces, then it swerves to Costa,or perhaps it's me trying to make it even better

There were a few passes from Neves towards the South Bank which he put some swerve on.

Both me and João, my mate, will be back as soon as we can. The whole trip was absolutely wonderful and we right buzzing with excitement.

The forumites were all amazing really. An absolute pleasure meeting you guys.

Even Saw my first snowfall. Heh!

Hi Ho Wolverhampton!

Hi Ho Wolverhampton!

It really was great meeting you and Joao and hopefully your next visit will just have the one "season" of weather instead of all 4 in about 10 minutes! :icon_lol:

Back home after a snow filled drive back

The match has been covered - though one of Nigel Clough's comments is 'This was the biggest mismatch in English football today'

He's not wrong, though they did at least try & didn't give up so there is still some hope for them.

Was impressed with MGW when he came on - made some very intelligent runs, not always recognised & was looking to go forward the whole time. Afobe took his goals well & was much more in tune with what the role requires - Nuno has clearly been working on him.

Very pleased to meet our Portuguese friends & all other forumites (basically took over half of the Royal London) - DDW & WH happy to see that you got back OK.

Drive back this morning was not the most pleasant I have had, but fine if you drove sensibly. A thank you to all those who couldn't be arsed to clear their cars properly before setting off - I did, but then had the windscreen continually covered by snow coming off other cars. A very special thank you to the Porsche driver who decided that 30mph was the max speed you could do between junction 4 & 5 of the M5 - have no problem with the speed (though it really wasn't that bad), but also deciding that it could only be done in the outside lane of the only two that had been cleared really wasn't that helpful.

Surprisingly the worst bit was the last 10 miles as anywhere exposed & higher than the surrounding area in Dorset became impassable. Couldn't get up onto the A303 so braved some minor roads, fortunately the local farmers had obviously been out to clear. The final hill down into Mere (with 2 hairpin bends) was just a touch hairy though!

Just watched the extended highlights on Wolves TV - Neves passes are unreal

It's a privilege to have been there to watch for some of the games

Weird how I can sit and watch that and enjoy it more than most goals I've ever seen. A pass being better than loads of goals, that's how fucking good this bloke is.

It's like watching someone press 'through-ball' on ISS98 on N64.

Neves has his back to Costa before he receives the ball and it is the speed in which he identifies and then executes the pass that sets him apart from his peers.

It added to the English football experience

This exactly.

Could, say, Kevin McDonald make this pass? Probably. Would he ever have the speed of thought to make it happen in open play? Not in a million years, for my money.

Ruben just makes everything look instinctive and easy.
