Wolves 3-1 Burton - Verdict Thread

I think the criticism for Ruddy is more to do with the fact that he doesn't seem to save ANYTHING anymore rather than just not stopping that shot.

I really hope he has a blinder against bora and keeps a clean sheet. He is probably the best keeper we have had in 20 years. Yes u can hit me with Matt Murray but his injuries set him back. Ruddy has represented his country and it shows. He has 2 complete fuck ups this season. Forest and Norwich. He has almost 20 clean sheets. He is quality. He needs to be as Norris ius also quality and younger but for 2018 Ruddy is the main man. Let him be. He was so unlucky with the goal today.

I still don't see Ruddy as that big an improvement over Ikeme.

His kicking is significantly better than Ikeme, feel like the amount of times he hits the wingbacks with accurate passes has gone fairly unnoticed this year.

It was a very tough save. However his effort for it looks poor. I am filing it under "could do better".

Bollocks though. We won and Villa lost. GAME FUCKING OVER MAN. Even Corporal Hicks knows it is done as you can't nuke us from orbit.

Tbf to Ruddy he won't have known how to save it until the absolute last moment. Went through so many legs and yet never deflected. Bit of a freak thing. I was harsh about it earlier but seeing the replays I've softened considerably.

The point is in the last month he's never saved those 'could have saved them' goals. To suggest he's better than Murray based on Murray's injuries even though Murray thus far has played more games for Wolves is comical

Murray made more errors v Southampton than Ruddy has this season. Watch the 0 6. Murray should be doing better on goals 12 and 6 if we are putting today's goal down to Ruddy.

Murray could have been England class but his matchstick legs let him down. Ruddy has been good for 90% of the season.

Murray was before my time but would it be fair to say that perhaps Murray had a lot more work to do than Ruddy has done?

I've watched the goal against loads of times and I think it's very poor from Ruddy I also don't agree his kicking is better than Ikeme he spoons it out of play all the time. He's been very good for most of the season but let's not make him out to be something he's not.

We will need an upgrade when we go up too many fumbles and mistakes for my money.

As for the goal he moves as he can clearly see the ball yes it's awkward but he does nothing to react, any other top keeper would be slated to death for that.

If that goal cost us the game today there would be meltdown on here.

Murray couldn't kick for his life but his shot stopping was excellent and the way he commanded his area was world class. He was sadly made of biscuits but irrespective of workload his strengths were very obvious.

His performance in the playoff final was something I will never forget.

I agree let's not make Ruddy out to be anything other than what he is. A premier league quality keeper. Ikeme isn't. Gets beaten from 30 yards 5 times a season and was slow down in the corners. Didn't command this area. Ruddy two big booboos and 4 or 5 minor errors. Agree with the comments re kicking. Must do better. But defensively we were streets ahead of anything we have had at this level all through.

Yeah let's be clear on this he's far better than Ikeme and only because we are improving at such a rate is his position questioned.

He isn't perfect but on a free to do the job he's been brought in to do he's been great.

I just think that others have been dropped for less and having watched Norris every time he has played I am a little dissapointed he hasn't had a chance.

So right. Could have been England's number 1 barring this injuries ......... Which was what I said. Michael Owen should have been England's record goalscorer but was made of biscuits. Same thing, different position. Rob Jones was better than Gary Neville but was broken early. It happens Ruddy is the best we have had since Murray. Matt played 87 times in 8 years with us.Ruddy has 406 appearances in 13 years.

That ius a different but very valid point. I first saw Norris at Royston then Cambridge. He is some prospect. However he ius still untested at the highest level. Ruddy was OK in thee premier league with Norwich. Norris I think is the better shot stopper but that's opinion watching him against lesser opposiion. Time is on his side.

Hopefully we seal promotion in the next few games and he gets a chance to shine. Some of his shot stopping has been top notch and even when we lost at Swansea he played well.

I should say his kicking is probably worse than Ikeme and Ruddy but as you say he has lots of time on his side.

Norris kept one of the two clean sheets this season against Man City, wouldn't class them as lesser opposition, and they ended up sticking all their best players as subs, was in goal against Southampton, there's another team I wouldn't say we're lesser opposition(ok they're no great shakes in the premier, but they are in the league above us,therefore better,at this point in time)

It's a good problem to have - an established pro with an up-and-coming young gun in the wings !

As for Matt Murray, simply the best Wolves keeper since Bert Williams - period - and even Bert was before my time so I can only go on reputation, honours and being a regular keeper for England.

Now to watch the reply of the game vs Burton (it was on at 2am here at Oz, just too much to stay up and watch it live).

Guys, first and foremost, I'd like to thank everyone who showed up today, you all made sure out day here was amazing. We're looking forward for our return!

Loved Molineux and the game was superb! Neves was outstanding, again. Two marvellous finishes from Costa and Afobe to spice things up.
