What are you currently listening to....

Christ almighty this has just popped up on me ipod .

Yessongs.

Superb.

I was at the Record Fair at the Slade Rooms recently and bought Close To The Edge by Yes, on original Vinyl - 1972 ? Beautiful album.

I also bought David Bowie - Hunky Dory, on original vinyl. I always think of him, not just as a wonderful Musician / Singer / Songwriter, but as an exceptional Artist. One of the few that could move with the times and kept re-inventing himself. He wrote some fantastic, timeless songs. I loved Life On Mars when it came out when I was about 12, and I still love that song today. I just marvel at the composition.

Close to the Edge contained the magical "Siberian Khatru." Brilliant does not do it justice.

I found an original of hunky dory in great nick at a record fair in about '87 which I gave to a girl I was seeing at the time. really wish i'd kept it.

I've got the original Hunky Dory in my loft. The joys of being a hoarder. I haven't got anything to play it on though.

Well Nimrod, our priorities change as we get older and I'm sure you realise now that music is far more important than a relationship

Ha Ha, I laughed out loud when I read that one, but remember, one pair of great knockers are ok in the short term, but a great song is with you forever :band:

I envy you Doctor Doog. When you get a good turntable and start playing the old vinyls again for the first time in years, it's a wonderful feeling. Then if you get the appetite back, and your collection grows, you don't play your CD's as often as you realise we were conned. Yes you may get a clearer, hiss free sound and you can quickly skip to your favourite tracks, but Vinyl sounds so much warmer and without the 'equaliser' they use on CD's, so you can hear the Treble and the 'high mids' more and it picks up more sounds on the tracks than CD's, particularly strings.

Also, I don't like to keep getting up to change tracks, it encourages me to actually listen to the whole album, which we don't tend to do with a CD ?

In 2016, more vinyl was sold in one year since 1991.

When I moved nearly 3 years ago now (fuck me time flies) the first thing I acquired was a turntable/amp/cd player.
I hadn't played my records for years. The joy of being able to do so has been immense.
I have a couple of days off next week. These posts have inspired me to have half a day listening to some vinyl.

I actually do listen to whole cd's. I may skip individual tracks I really don't like, but generally I still listen to the whole album

that's right. my missus complains that i bought most of it, but she's just exaggerating.

I have been listening to Slipknot : The Gray Chapter quite a lot recently as micro is a big fan of the be-masked lunatics.

I was a little unsure at first but the first five tracks on that album are actually bloody superb. Really good stuff and I LOVE the production. Massively in your face, especially at suitably high volumes in the car.

I'm loving the spotify weekly playlist at the moment. Not only do I discover new bands I'd never have otherwise heard of but I also get to listen to bands I know of but for whatever reason have never really paid attention to. At The Drive In are one these bands. Why have I never bothered to listen to them before? I think my wife even has their album so I have no excuses.

Spotify Weekly is amazing. I rave about it.

Listened to mine yesterday and found an awesome acoustic cover of The Only Way Is Up by Yazz :icon_lol:

Think it was by Stornoway.

i love great covers, though usually need there to be something different about them.

i've ordered a new turntable (Planar 3) - hopefully pick it up over next couple of days and will then have another listen to the new Ty Segall.
