Things that make you SAD thread.

When a bank or such like sends you a code to your phone / email that you have to type in before you can get on the site would be the way you'd encounter it I'd imagine

He seems in good spirits so fingers crossed. Just feels so shit; he’s worked long hard jobs that he hated for basically his whole life, trying to make sure my sisters and I never had to worry about paying for things like college, medications, etc. He basically put aside everything for the last 40 years or so.

He retired in June and to immediately have this happen… I mean, Dad-Tinted Glasses on, obviously, but it feels so cosmically unfair.

Hopefully early enough that he's got a good few decades to spend your inheritance x

Enable it on your email account at the very least

Christ. He's a year older than me.

Been a rough morning. Had to take the old dog to the vets this morning for the last time. We've been preparing ourselves for a few weeks but it's still shit. Even though we both knew it was the right thing to do for her, I still felt evil signing the consent forms. Missus is still in tears and I don't know what to do with myself, gunna be weird in the morning not taking her out for a walk.
Trying to find some consolation, she was 15 and I think we gave her a good life after fetching from the rescue centre 13 years ago.

There are few things I get nostalgia about cyber for, but he put a post up about loss of a dog that was (while probably a bit schmaltzy) really poignant and uplifting. Im sorry for your loss - long term pets are family and saying goodbye is fucking tough.

They’re family, through and through.

Give yourself space to grieve; absolutely no shame in it. My deepest condolences to you and yours, Syc.

So sorry to hear this.

Been in a similar position myself again recently and you always wonder whether you've done the right thing and whether a day or two longer was possible.
A vet said something to me once though that I cling to on these occasions: "It's better to be a week too early than a day too late". That really helped me.

Got an email yesterday from Meta Careers asking me to apply for a role in their Social Media campaign team, as I have interviewed for them in the past and have experience of running marketing campaigns and accounts.
Got the wife to look into it as she works in Meta. Salary is same as current, but lots more perks and benefits. Only snag - it's supporting the South Asia markets and it's an on-call role so I'd be working on Asia time which means night shifts 😴
Hard to pass it up as I will probably be needing a new role soon due to ongoing rampdowns in my current org but doesn't suit me with a young baby and already being sleep deprived.

Making people redundant.

I've held final consultations and issued redundancy notices to the bakers on my department today, from February we'll be moving to a frozen "bake off" model so skilled bakers who can produce bread and roll from scratch are deemed unnecessary.
.
They have the option to stay on in the new bakery but why would you stick around to become an oven tech shovelling inferior product into an oven.

We (supermarkets) have chased traditional butchers, greengrocers, fishmongers and now bakeries out of town and then slowly closed our own.

That's sad on a few levels. Personally we always get our bread from our local independent bakeries. The bread is better, there's more choice and while the price is higher its not bank breaking.
