They will each face a full investigation under the new Procurement Act 2023, which came into force just a few days ago. If found to be negligent and in violation of that Act, they could face professional debarment from public contracts, as well as hefty fines and even possible prison time for company executives.
Cabinet office parliamentary secretary, Georgia Gould, said: 'These investigations will establish whether the organisations have engaged in professional misconduct for the purposes of that Act.
'The new Act allows us to investigate suppliers and, if certain grounds are met, to add their
names to a published and centrally managed debarment list, which must be taken into
account by contracting authorities in awarding new contracts and undertaking new procurements.'
She said the organisations will be notified when the investigations are opened, and shewarned that investigations into other organisations could also take place.
