Summer 2026: Stay or Go

Refusing to turn up for a game for a club he was contracted to play for and I'm the strange one? He acted like a dick and disrespected the fans in doing so, if you can't see that then that's what it is.

Of all the strange grudges and weird opinions Wolves fans have had this might be the most bizarre. Have fun on your lonely, Wolves supporting, João Moutinho hating island.

I don’t hate him. Just because I don't spend £1000's going to watch him after he's left Wolves doesn't make me that. The way he left the club was shitty on his behalf if you can't see that then that's on you. If other players had behaved like that I'm guessing you would.

Who is Lyca and how do you know when he was born? Bit creepy.
The post you've quoted literally says Lycan and you've posted enough on here for me to have a sense of your age. It's now all a bit weird

Hennessey had his issues but there have been plenty of "line" keepers that have been successful, plus with us defending so deep when he was in goal and we were in the PL, it shouldn't have been so much an issue.

I would take him over Sa purely because he didn't let in the amount of utter utter nonsense goals. I can give you 10 easily from Sa that are absolutely inexplicable. Before you even get into him being in the top 10 of all time for penalties conceded in the Premier League - that's all players, not just keepers.

They both down/downed tools so even stevens there.

Rui and Murray are miles clear of everyone else realistically.

Don't stress. I'll let him know that you thought he was disrespectful when I watch him play a Europa League QF in Seville in a few weeks.

You edited the post you weirdo 😅

On Moutinho: Do I think that is a great look, no, but a) Lopetegui was already treating him like shite, b) Lopetegui then went on to not bring Raul on for no reason in what should have been his final home game, because he's a blinking weird prick, so that's the mark of the man c) We know Lopetegui is a wanker, look what he then went on to do, d) With all that in mind, we only have Lopetegui's word that that is what happened, and I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him, the Chris de Burgh prat.

Then you add in the other players who had justifiable cause to be annoyed with how they exited the club: Raul (as above), Jonny (again not condoning what he did), Saiss, Coady, Boly, Ruddy...the common denominator is not the player here. It's the club and the management.

Even if I did believe someone who is an absolute snake in the grass, it wouldn't diminish what that man did in a gold shirt. The best footballer I've ever seen and the best footballer I ever will see for our club.

Different eras different balls. Stowell was twice the keeper comparative to their era than Hennessey was. Those old videos you like to comment on firstly don't show the saves and secondly don't show the comparisons with other keepers at the time. For the early to mid 90s he was a PL keeper playing in the Championship, just like a number of our other players were, we just didn't have a combination of the luck or nouse to get there.
I wasn't actually criticising Stowell here, it was merely an observation of the difference in their techniques.

Not sure why you have to be consistently condescending.

The balls weren't markedly different between the 90s and 00s either, I played with plenty of them myself, unless it was a Mitre Tactic (now those were like fucking boulders) or a Mitre Multiplex anyway, and obviously the professionals didnt play with those in games.

The pitches were very different though obviously.

And to be clear, i liked Stowell, he was consistent, rarely made big errors, his kicking was good, and until Murray he was clearly the best keeper we'd had in my time of watching, and he was at Wolves for years and years. He was also repeatedly beaten from distance and very rarely saved penalties.

All those things can be true at once.

Stowell definitely did have an issue with distance from kicking off the ground, I mean Beasant was bloody rubbish for us but he could easily go 30-40 yards longer without much effort, and you had a direct comparison there in the same season.

I wonder if other clubs have had so many keepers that are actively awful with the ball at their feet :D Jones, Murray, Ikeme, Lonergan, Rui, Sa, all absolutely shocking.

Ikeme trapping the ball with his shins absolutely drove me up the wall, what are you doing!

The best thing about Hennessey was his kicking.

Could comfortably kick it 80 yards, with the technique of a man kicking with 20% effort.

Comparatively, watch Mike Stowell kick it, every single time he was trying to take the leather (plastic) off the ball and not getting the distance Wayne would.
He could score at the other end with either foot which is mental. (obviously empty net)

As you mention, others could barely reach halfway, with no idea where its going either

Incredible stuff. I’m sure people have said he was an outfielder until about 15/16 which baffles me

Great one was when we played Hudds at home at the fag end of the Lambert era. We were in the pub beforehand, team comes through, Lonergan in nets. Great, look forward to that.

Five minutes in our keeper launches one 70 yards, clean as a whistle. What the fucking hell is going on here.

Only then did we realise Lonners had pulled out in the warm up and Harry Burgoyne was in nets.

I don’t think I’ll ever get over how bad Lonergan was. He’d always had a pretty decent rep as a shot stopper before he joined us I thought but I think he’s the worst GK I’ve seen live.

Plenty I could pick out but Derby's opener here. All starts from his AWFUL kick under no pressure. Then why the fuck are you making the save like that you idiot. You might think it looks flash, I think we're 1-0 down.

Yeah, that “save” haunts me in my sleep still. In fact I’d forgotten the kick, under little pressure ffs

I remember him having a really good game for Preston against us in 00s. Throwing himself all over the place, don't remember the exact game.

I thought of that hopefully when we signed him....

Was that Derby game the one where he did that 'look Dad, no hands!' dive at a cross?
