Things that make you SAD thread.

My faithful Chromecast has given up the ghost. Froze today, restarted and Google have basically bricked them from here (they don't sell them any more).

Got an Amazon Fire being delivered tomorrow but RIP old friend, 2017-2025.
I know you got a Fire instead, but for anyone else in the same boat, it's only Google themselves that have stopped selling Chromecasts in favour of their new TV box.
There are still thousands of Chromecasts available to buy from third party sellers like Curry's etc.

On the plus side, the Fire is a lovely little bit of kit.

On the minus side, I've given Jeff Bezos money.

I know the Apple TV is expensive but not dealing with ads on the Home Screen is so so worth it.

I feel the same about YouTube Premium. Plus I get YouTube Music in my car and at home.

Mine is still going strong 9yrs later.
Doesn't get the same use now we have a smart tv but still good for travel or use in guest bedrooms
I've got a couple of firestick 4k max. There's a couple of tricks in the settings that can assist with better streaming and downloading apps. Managing the cache is essential.

Found out today that a good friend of mine in Letchworth has been diagnosed with cerebellar ataxia, which is basically a neurological condition - not curable. He's been in a wheelchair for over a year and his speech is very difficult. Really, really sadly the outlook and prognosis are bleak.

Literally a few miles from the epicentre too. Nothing new, just the world is paying attention for a few weeks but it'll carry on when the cameras go.

Great end to a shift... Started with a male phoning the signal box from one of the user crossings trying to find out when the next train is and threatening to walk in front of it. Tried to talk to him but told to "F Off" (I have that affect on people I guess). Reported to our Control and they dispatched police and a manager to the crossing

Train on the way before they arrived so I stopped and advised the driver.Train couldn't see anyone so passed without incident. Police had arrived and arrested the man for his own safety. He'd left the phones off the hook and left the protecting gates wide open but that has all been sorted now.

Feel sorry for people who get to this stage but the bloke sounded serious and you can never take chances when this happens.
