The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

I'm away on a couple of weeks hol next week and skyrim should be waiting for me when I get back. Just wondered if you'd checked anything out on the game yet - eg on the UESP? In particular

- highest magic class races and "Cheat" multipliers if any
- quickest transport methods - (daggerfall had that anchor and return spell you could use in a dungeon but it was dropped from morrowind)
- quickest way to class up in magic (eg if the spell reflect method against a wall will work?)
- carrying weight multipliers

i'm sure I'll work these out eventually once I get started but any pointers might save me a bit of time.

Hi Nimrod

I guess you'll find all the answers you want here...http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/forum/118-skyrim-general-discussion/

Managed to spend a fair amount of time on BF3 multiplayer today, and it is growing on me. I've adapted my game style and play a lot less 'CoD' and more stealthily and it seems to be working a bit better. Some of the maps are huge and very good. Even the smaller maps are still pretty big. I particularly like one called Seine Crossing, set in the heart of Paris. A great urban map with lots of height levels and of course many opportunities for blowing the crap out of the buildings and removing someone's cover. I might not trade it in for MW3 after all...

Toon - You didn't tell me that Bioshock 2 was so fantastic.

I was only playing it to waste away 14 days to Skyrim, but it is the best game I have played for years.

Sometimes games are so good - Bioshock 1 & 2 are important games. Anybody who hasn't played them....do it now!

I am now going to play Skyrim.

I will see you all again in 2015.

Bye........

I'm pretty sure I waxed lyrical about what a great game it was after I played it through the first time! I've played it 3 times now and it still will not be traded in. Great game, and frankly anyone who calls themselves a gamer who hasn't played it deserves to have their consoles/pcs removed from their possession and never be allowed to play another game again. Langdale are you listening? You can get it for less than a tenner now I'm sure...

I've seen some gameplay footage for Bioshock 3 and it looks really nice graphically. Never played either of the first two as it's really not my sort of game.

I'm enjoying BF3, but there is a nagging in my head that its not quite as good as Bad Company 2. Maybe I need to level up more, but I'm regularly near the top of the leaderboards, despite an appalling k/d ratio. Many on there don't seem to get it is a team based game, most of my points are from medi/ ammo pack, spotting and M/COM disarming/ capturing.

I'm a bit stuck which game to play, had F1 2011, FIFA 12, Forza 4 and BF 3 within 2 weeks and all are excellent. Also got Bioshock 2 and Sabotuer 2nd hand, and not started either. Stupid job/ wife/ life!

Those that don't 'get it' will tire of dying so easily/often and drift off to the next installment of CoD.

I actually agree with you here - and I'm one of those people.

I was chatting to Toon about this last night. We agreed (shock!) that BF is more of a 'gamers game' than CoD which is more mindless, simple escapism.

Overall I've probably spent equal amounts of time (and money!) playing both, CoD is definitely the more accessible of the two hence it's popularity.

I've loved both and really hope Bf3 is supported anything like the originals were, but I get the sense that CoD is becoming a victim of its own success?

I saw some of that live stream last night and there are some awesome sounding features coming up for MW3, but some things I didn't like.

Will post some more when I get home tonight but there's more good than bad.

You're right though - it's now so massive that they've had to implement a lot of features that really shouldn't have been needed!

I think it needs to improve massively. GTA IV was impressive in terms of scale etc, but I don't think it was that good a game. LA Noir and RDR were miles better IMHO.

Great looking trailer though.

I agree.

I never finished 4. But after the amount of hours I have spent on Vice City + San Andreas I will always buy the GTA brand.

More for nostalgia than anything.
