Well thats it, finished my last day at work, I have joined the ranks of the retired.
Its a very strange feeling.
Some nice comments from workmates and a wodge of cash from a whip round.
MD told me to give him a ring if I get bored or decide I've gone to early, I appreciated the offer but I'm unlikely to get bored enough to want to go back.

5 yrs for me now & time has gone so quickly (though less so this year!)

Take a few months out, but find something that you enjoy to involve yourself in after - preferably something that you are not tied to specific days/times so have flexibility.

Ta, yep I've got some rough plans but with no time constraints. Not doing much till after xmas, then will probably start sorting jobs in the house. Hopefully by the spring things will start to get a bit more normal covid wise and I've got quite a few interests/pastimes to keep me entertained.

My last real day today. Officially finish on Monday, but that will just be taking my laptop and phone back in as I've been working from home. Genuinely overwhelmed by the number of nice comments I have had and the contributions to my leaving present. I'm a bit emotional to be honest.

What was wrong with it in the end ?

it was either the pcb or the pump. given he wasn't 100% as to what it could be, and we fgured the boiler was approaching 15+ years, we decided risking possible repairs wasn't worthwhile. may as well sped the money on something with a 10 year guarantee and some peace of mind.

So after a few nervous days my sister is recovering at the QE in Birmingham. A lot changes in a few days and she is in a much better place than she was on Sunday.

Called Amazon today about an unpaid refund,which got sorted quickly. Anyway, half way through the call with a lovely lady called Shawna, I heard a cockerel and a pig! Turns out that I was on the phone with a lady working from home in Jamaica and the animals were in the air conditioned room with her. I gave Shawna 5 stars for that.

Congratulations to all. We only have the one, and haven't been able to get to see him much these past 10 months. But we get a daily video of him so we can see him growing. He is the happiest, cheerful chap ever and he cheers us up on our bad days.
