Cheers folks, I actually don't mind a Wetherspoons.
Think I went to the Soup kitchen many years ago and don't remember it being shit.
Will deffo give French and Byrne a go.

Literally fills with shit often being next to the river when it floods. Still 100x better than the moon.

Actually @sycophantia this is where I would go, only short walk but really really good for lunch: https://maps.app.goo.gl/y8bUA4KG6U36dHg87?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy
I know absolutely nothing about Stafford, but got to drop daughter at an event on the sunday evening before before christmas at Top of the World and Social.

Any recommendations of where to go for a decent meal with the mrs why I wait?

The Soup Kitchen at the back of St Mary's? It's well over 40 years since I went in there!

This place is good, Nepalese food - few of them locally as the Gurkhas are based in Stafford

There was another Spoons at the top end of the High Street in Stafford that was actually very nice.

I think they binned it but sure its been reopened by someone else (despite my Daughter living in Stafford I haven't visited the town centre for a few years so may be wrong)

The Butler's Bell, on Gaolgate Street, bought by Davenports.

Ah, the 'End of the World'...

Been through a lot of guises, about to reopen I think so should be ok for a while.
Tbh it's an under 16 xmas rave, with most her football team going, ran by an outside company, and finishing at 9, so not expecting any problems.

Hello lads, The Drummer and I are coming to the Villa game and I'm thinking of booking into the Premier Inn next to the station, so what I want to know is, when you walk through the underpass in the corner of the car park at the front of the station, when you come out at the far side, the hotel is right there, but can you get at it?
Or do you have to walk round via the main road?

I think the tunnel is closed now (I maybe wrong it's been a while since I have been in Wolvo).

Quickest way would to walk to your left out of the station and then down towards the Western and then down the path alongside the wedding venue and half way down you can get on to the hotel car park

This is the correct answer. The underpass has been closed for a while now

Thanks very much lads. Bit of a toss up between the Prem Inn and Redwings, which we stayed in before. But we'll need to get moving on Sunday morning to get the plane etc.
The Premier Lodge opposite the new bus station is even better, but has some shocking reviews!
By the way, am I correct in assuming its unlikely to be moved by Sky, because its already in the Saturday Evening TV slot?
