Hi all,

I'm a Belgian researcher based at the University of Bath on understanding fan views towards sponsorship in football.
With the Premier League due to remove gambling brands from the front-of-shirts at the end of the 2025-26 season, a new project (**fully anonymised**) seeks to understand fans voices and attitudes, and the merits and impacts of gambling brand sponsorship more generally.
It entails a conversation of approx. 30 minutes in person or online, depending on your preference and feasibility. This conversation will be strictly anonymous, your identity as well as the club's identity. It only involves a one-off appointment and participants will receive a £15 pond Amazon voucher.
Attached is a flyer which contains a QR code you may scan to register, I will contact you to pick a day and time. (or you may use this link to register: https://ugent.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_86Z7wtIjZRb5ffg )

Looking forward to hearing your views on this self-regulation!

All the best!

It’s a pretty pointless exercise banning it on shirts if the TV companies are allowed to flood their coverage with gambling ads.
I suppose it is a step in the right direction though.

I like a bet but I don't need it to be advertised, same as I don't need booze or cigs advertised either.

Banning the advertising is a good thing. I would also ban tv advertising for gambling before, during and after any televised sporting event. The Australian authorities are bringing that in shortly, and I think the British authorities could very easily follow suit. Personally, I would go further and make any form of advertising for gambling in any format whether TV, print, radio, billboard or whatever, illegal.
