It doesn’t need fixing. There just needs to be some form of viable pathway from academy to first team and they need to avoid 436 players out on loan and stunted development from kids that are blocked.

Managing the Chelsea 1st team is a huge job itself for any manager. Asking him to also sort out other footballing problems sounds like far too much for someone taking on the biggest job of his career.

Sky were talking about it yesterday. Saying the new owners want to "fix" the issues at the club and have a manager who can look after the club. Essentially they want an old school set up where everything that happens across the club is controlled by the manager.

I think they mean they feel there is a disconnect between the different levels at the club, rather than the Academy needs fixing. So essentially the Academy teams are currently treated like a separate club. They want Potter, or whoever, to come in and look over that.

Sky do indeed talk a lot of shit...on repeat every 30 mins but at no point did I get the impression they meant "the club is fucked, Academy is down the toilet we need someone to fix this mess". Now, some online outlets may have run with that angle because they get more clicks if they go OTT in their headlines.
