Great drive to win.

Get ready for the Horner/Verstappen cry-fest afterwards. No doubt Marko will make even more of a tit of himself too.

I thought he’d be lucky to get 3rd, that is simply amazing driving. A privilege to watch.

Fair play to Bottas for not being an arse. Ignores those team orders for 1 lap and potentially borks it all up.

Also impressed with some top shithousing from Red Bull....might not get a point via Perez so just take the fastest lap point off Merc/Lewis knowing you get nowt for getting it.

Hamilton really is insanely good. So much salt around though, people really bloody hate him.

Fact is, he caused a collision and got double the normal penalty for that. People talking like he rammed him off the road deliberately and tried to kill him.

Gamesmanship by Horner, once he new Max was ok, ramped up the pressure on the officials to get as much as a penalty as possible, which worked but ultimately didn't cos Hamilton got the win anyway.

Bottas not able to have a drink throughout the race I think I heard. He'll be feeling proper thirsty!

Why do people hate him?

I know its a cliche but some people seem to love building sportsmen up and then knocking them down when they get successful. Hamilton is focused, clinical and very driven which apparently upsets some

Basically anyone who isn’t a Hamilton fan hates him because he’s won for so long. Max/red bull fans are the worst but basically anyone who follows F1 wants to see him fail as he’s too good.
I kind of get it, I used to hate watching a Schumacher and Vettel winning every week years ago and Lewis has surpassed both those eras now

Man United in the 90s, got it.

I used to follow F1 quite closely in the 90s and went from hating Schumaker to really liking him once I started to appreciate how good he was.

I guess I just find it odd that some British (English now?) don't like Hamilton when he's clearly going to be one of our best ever sporting legends.

A good proportion of people don’t like him as to them he’s essentially an ‘uppity ******’. He wears bling, he has braids, is massively successful and doesn’t give a fuck what they think.

He was universally loved by British F1 fans at silverstone when I was there in 2019, was really nice to see, as all the ‘noise’ suggested he’s hated.

Its been the same since I started following sports.....for 45 years at least

For me it's his tax situation, which is no different to Mansell, Coultard etc, but doesn't mean I have to like it

Indeed, but the difference in attitude to him vs those is pretty stark.

I've always found him a bit of an odd personality to get behind, like he does a lot of flashy stuff but it never really feels particularly genuine to me. The way he comes across when he's just talking generally makes me think he's actually just a pretty bland normal guy at heart and the sort of persona he portrays a lot of the time feels false as a result.

No disputing his talent as a driver though, and most people at the top of their field have that inclination to be a bit of a dick from time to time, it's perhaps that ruthless bastard steak that gets them to the top to begin with.

I see Max got Horner to do his Tweet this evening

"Punishment not hard enough"
"To see Lewis celebrating whilst I was in hospital is disrespectful and unsportsman like"

Fuck off son.

1) you have done far far worse in your short career. Infact other drivers make a constant joke that they need to give you extra room
2) Yes it was a heavy shunt and you know full well Lewis would have checked in on your health. If that was the Dutch F1 and you shunted Lewis off, got a penalty and still won in front of over 100,000 Dutch fans you would be going fookin mad. So wind it in eh.
