Well that was unexpected. I think the Merc upgrade might be rather good. Without that slide at Vale I reckon he would have been half a second clear. Astounding!
Depends. You aren’t going to see people risk binning it at the first corner but faster cars out of position are going to get their elbows out to try and advance on the grid. It’s an interesting experiment.
Thought it was entertaining enough, but think if they keep it into next year it will be even better given (hopefully) cars can follow each other closer. Seems that Brawn is sure we'll keep some form of it, given it adds entertainment value over a race weekend
Hmmm. So the sprint is 100km at full race pace. Do that over a 24 race season and it’s the equivalent of 8 extra full GP in the calendar. Will the cars be allowed extra power unit and gearbox changes before grid penalties to account for this?
Also a sprint race at Monaco or Hungaroring really will be a train as overtaking is as good as impossible at both circuits. It could be brilliant at somewhere like Interlagos though.
