Swansea (H) FA cup build up

I do not wish to be pedantic......but on the Swansea official website they cannot even spell the name of our stadium correctly.

I get the 'if Nuno was ever being to play him there he would have done so by now' argument and it's probably correct, but as a one off before we move him on at least temporarily I'd play Marshall there on Saturday.

Agree, I’d rather we did that than play Bennett there when it’s at home and he is also a current first choice.

I think Marshall's only chance in a Wolves team would be in we converted him to a central midfielder (and that would require a lot of work from him). Otherwise, no way do I think he works in this formation.

He won't work in central midfield either

Like I say, would take a lot of work. And even then, is he displacing Neves or Saiss? Probably not.

Ah that famous ground of the Neux Mole

Played nominally as the inside right player vs Bristol Rovers but played infield a lot. It didn't really work. Set pieces were really off that night too.

He's a good footballer and more than decent for this level. We've just moved on in a lot of ways. Will force me to get a haircut when he leaves as I can't be the only man in Wolverhampton to periodically wear an Alice band.

I think if he put some time in on his positioning sense and his tackling he could be a sort of small upgrade on Price (who I like a lot). But as you say, we've pretty much moved on.

Not sure why we are discussing Marshall. He will be sold this window or loaned. Cup tieing him would be bizarre and he doesn’t fit anywhere in the system.

The cup tied thing is always a red herring. Let's say Reading want him to add to our collection of 2016/17 players...they aren't going to say "That Ben Marshall, decent pedigree at this level, still a good age, cracking delivery, gets the odd goal, Wolves are asking a fair price...but wait. He can't play in the FA Cup Fourth Round. NO DEAL".

Ignore cup tied then. Point still stands

The thing is we played both Edwards and Dicko at Southampton and both were gone inside a week. An impending departure isn't going to matter that much to Nuno, if it suits us on a one off basis then he'll just do it. I don't think he cares too much what happens, he'll put a team out to win (and I think we will win) but this isn't his priority.

But Edwards was a CM and Dicko was a striker. We weren’t blessed with alternatives and they are at least acceptable professional footballers playing in their natural positions. Marshall doesn’t fit where we would need him and shoe horning him in there could see someone more useful missing out on valuable game time.

I’d be disappointed if he played and I’d be disappointed if we end up playing someone with no hope like Burr or Simpson. Just play Doherty, or if needs must MGW

Doherty doesn't need more game time and MGW to the best of my knowledge hasn't ever played there. At least Marshall played as an attacking full back at Blackburn so will have half an idea. This all assumes he didn't enjoy Xmas as much as he did last year of course

MGW hasn’t played there but I expect us to do a lot of attacking. I’d prefer him to play CM but if it’s a toss up between Marshall or MGW at WB then I’d play the latter. Will be good experience for him none the less. Playing a position where he is going to have to do a lot of running, attacking and defending similar to what he’d do if he was playing CM.

From what I've seen of MGW I don't think he would be near his best at CM. He needs to be further forward.

He's definitely a CM long-term. More than a hint of Mousa Dembele about him.

RWB for tomorrow will be Simpson I think as he has been recalled from Telford.
